NANS passes vote of confidence on Kogi Gov. for conducive academic environment

Kogi State Students in various institutions of higher learning in the state, have expressed satisfaction with the performance of the Governor, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, since he assumed office and passed a unanimous vote of confidence on him.

The students were particularly impressed by the Governor’s impactful initiatives, policies, and projects across the State within a very short period of his leadership.

Addressing a World press conference in Lokoja on Tuesday, the Chairman, National Association of Nigeria Students, (NANS) Kogi State branch, Comrade Ahmed Gomina Kabiru, commended the Governor’s exceptional contributions towards the development of education sector and commitment to Kogi State Students welfare.

The press conference with the theme “empowerment through education, focusing on transformative power of learning and knowledge”, the Students noted with satisfaction, the present administration’s unrelenting commitment to fostering conducive academic environment where they can thrive to attain the loftiest academically, socially, and professionally.

Appreciating the achievement of Governor Ododo in the educational sector, the Students leader, Kabiru,.noted with gratitude the recent increase and digitization of bursary allowances to students across Kogi State, a gesture that will alleviate the financial burden on students and their families.

“This move will provide the much needed relief and encouragement to students to focus more on their academic pursuits.

”Improvement in Infrastructure: in several tertiary institutions in Kogi State has seen new classroom blocks, lecture halls, and laboratories, road networks to better equipped libraries, hostels, and administrative offices, giving rize to improved learning and environment.

“Enhanced Security on Campuses has assured the safety and security of students. We appreciate the deliberate steps taken to improve campus security, ensuring that we can study in a peaceful and safe atmosphere. With the installation of security equipment and the deployment of more security personnel across campuses have greatly reduced cases of insecurity, allowing students to focus on their studies without fear.

“Support for Technological Advancements and Digital Learning is an indication of recognizing the role of technology in modern education, championing the integration of technology into our educational systems. We have seen increased investment in ICT facilities across campuses,.

“The various skills acquisition programs, internships, and empowerment schemes introduced by this government have equipped many of our colleagues with the tools and knowledge to become self-reliant and contribute meaningfully to society among others”, the Student leader mentioned.

“Promoting inclusiveness and Student Participation in Governance,sustaining the free education policy at the lower level and inclusion of student voices in key decision-making processes has not gone unnoticed.

“We appreciate the open door policy of this administration, which has allowed us to engage constructively with government officials on issues affecting students. This has fostered a sense of belonging and encouraged student participation in governance.” Comrade Kabiru said

He therefore called on students across the country to support the administration of Governor Ododo in transforming Kogi State, warning that, they will resist any individual or group who intend to cause division in the State.

“In light of these accomplishments and many others, we, the students of Kogi State, are proud to stay firmly behind Governor Alhaji Anmed Usman Ododo.

“As we pass this vote of confidence, we also call on our fellow students to continue supporting the administration of Governor Ododo. Let us all play our part in building the Kogi State of our dreams by remaining committed to our studies, participating actively in civic duties, and contributing to the peace and progress of our institutions and our state.

“As leaders, We must resist every attempt by those who don’t mean well for our state to make us involve in any act capable of halting the wheel of progress”.

The leadership of students from tertiary institutions across Kogi State, were all in attendance during the press conference held at the Nigeria Union of Journalists Secretariat in Lokoja.
