The three-year tenure of constitutionally elected chairmen in Nasarawa State comes to an end today, with Hon. Aliyu Abdullahi Tashas, Toto Local Government Council’s outgoing Executive Chairman, conducting the official handover ceremony to the Director Personnel Management, DPM, at the council Secretariat.
In a remark, Mallam Garba Bako, Staff Officer of Toto Local Government, praised the outgoing chairman and cabinet members for meeting the people’s expectations, stating that council staff take pride in his enduring legacy.
The Staff Officer praised Tasha’s administration for its excellence and worker-friendly approach, guaranteeing their cooperation in his subsequent undertakings.
Mr. Sheikh Abdullahi Ayizi Mazi, a former Director Personnel Management and APC stalwart from Umaisha district, addressed the crowd, stating that Hon. Aliyu Abdullahi Tashas is the only elected official with numerous completed projects throughout Toto LG.
The former DPM humbly solicited Hon. Tashas’ expertise as Executive Adviser to the incoming Chairman, ensuring a seamless transition and future successes.
He acknowledged the invaluable support, cooperation, and understanding provided by the people of Toto LG and security agencies, which enabled the immediate past Chairman’s successful tenure across all sectors.
Chief Jibrin Abdullahi Ndagi, a prominent APC stakeholder from Toto and supporter of former Speaker Balarabe, commended Hon Tashas and his cabinet, including the legislative council, on their successful tenure and expressed best wishes for their future undertakings.
Alhaji Ndagi commended the outgoing chairman as a valued associate, noting his admiration for his people-oriented and inclusive leadership approach.
On his part, Hon. Aliyu Abdullahi Tashas, chairman of Toto LG, thanked the people of Toto Local Government, notably APC members, stakeholders, traditional rulers, and security personnel, whose support was instrumental in the successes recorded during his administration.
Hon Tashas emphasized that governance, infrastructure, and security have been his key areas of concentration since taking office as Chairman of the council, with tangible results visible throughout Toto LG’s three districts.
The Outgoing Chairman utilized the occasion to introduce his array of developmental projects spanning Toto LG, including the erection of an office block for Supervisor councillors to promote efficient service delivery and administrative simplicity.
The former Chairman’s projects included renovating two halls in Umaisha, Toto, and constructing an additional hall in Gadabuke district.
Beyond the aforementioned achievements, Hon Tashas noted that his administration made notable strides in governance, staff welfare, and security, emphasizing that the council is now in a superior position than when he took office.
He stressed that, instead of divesting government assets, his administration focuses on renovating and preserving them to benefit future governments.
He expressed gratitude to his appointees, the legislative arm, and staff, recognizing their exceptional proficiency as key factors in his accomplishments.
Hon Tashas specifically thanked Governor Abdullahi Sule, former Speaker Balarabe for their support and wise counsel which contributed to his success.

Tashas reaffirmed his dedication to the people of Toto, promising unwavering support for the incoming administration and volunteering to provide technical guidance to surpass his own achievements.
Nasarawa State’s ex-Special Adviser to the Governor has expressed his intention to concentrate on completing his PhD, indicating an ongoing commitment to politics alongside a shift in emphasis towards private interests.
