NYCN Urges Youth Inclusion in Nasarawa Council Polls

The Nasarawa State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, umbrella organization for youth groups, applauds the released schedule for Local Government elections, necessitated by the expiration of the last Council officials’ term.

The Council emphasizes the importance of Local Government elections in promoting democratization, citing their potential to mobilize political engagement at the grassroots and empower youth involvement in governance.

Comr. Jaafar M. Loko, Chairman of National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, Nasarawa State, emphasized in a statement that youths are instrumental in executing party manifestos and driving government policies. During the 2023 general elections, young individuals were mobilized to participate in large numbers, ensuring both a high turnout and a peaceful election process.

“We acknowledge the enthusiasm shown by young people in the state regarding the upcoming election, evident through their mobilization efforts and individual participation. Accordingly, we respectfully request that Your Excellency, Engineer Abdullahi Alhaji Sule, ensure youths are adequately represented in the election as Councilors and Council Chairmen.”

“We are confident that this initiative will significantly enhance the current administration’s efforts to promote grassroots leadership development by empowering young individuals in leadership roles.”

“We are confident that, with the necessary support and opportunities, young individuals will leverage their expertise and enthusiasm to drive transformative change within Local Government Councils in the state. We extend our gratitude to Your Excellency for consistently championing the interests of youth in the state.”
