Dr. Musa Muhammed Maikaya, a one-time All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship aspirant in Nasarawa State, has praised the Nasarawa State Independent Electoral Commission (NASIEC) for conducting peaceful local government elections in the state.
Maikaya, holder of the chieftaincy titles of Ciroman Toto and Kuyanbana of Umaisha Kingdom, made the assertion in an interview with correspondents after casting his vote at Toto North Primary School polling unit in Toto town, also commending Governor Abdullahi Sule for creating an enabling environment for the exercise’s success.
According to Maikaya: “This election is Nasarawa state’s most credible to date, thanks to our great party, the APC’s leadership, and the Governor’s efforts in providing necessary logistics, making Nasarawa a model for credible elections nationwide; it’s one of the best recent developments in Toto.”
Maikaya, President of Toto Development Association (TODA) and CEO of Maikaya Development Foundation (MDF), stated that Toto’s increased unity led to a high voter turnout in support of Pharmacist Ahmed Baba Yahaya, expressing confidence that the new chairman will leverage his expertise to drive local government development.
“He is the son of Toto and has managed its affairs prior to his tenure as commissioner for health, consistently striving for the area’s progress and development, aligning with the vision of Governor Abdullahi Sule, a leadership that the community has been eagerly awaiting.”
The elected Executive Chairman of Toto Local Government Council, Pharmacist Ahmed Baba Yahaya, revealed that security will be a key focus area for his administration, aiming to drive development in the local government.
The Chairman, having cast his vote at Iganki Sarki 2 polling unit during the recent local government elections, emphasized that security and unity among Toto’s residents remain his paramount objectives, praising security agencies for their professionalism and urging them to maintain this standard.
It will be recalled that the local government elections, held across 13 LGAs on Saturday, were devoid of reported violence, prompting political pundits to deem them free, fair, and credible.
Governor Abduallahi Sule was praised for ensuring the local government elections in the State were conducted in a free, fair, and credible manner.
