The Governing Council Chairman of Federal Polytechnic Nekede, Imo State, and former Minister of Science and Technology, Chief Henry Ikechukwu Ikoh, mourns the passing of Nigerian Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Taoreed Abiodun Lagbaja, and offers his condolences.
Recall that Lagbaja passed away on Wednesday in Lagos.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Chief Ikoh described the demise of the Army chief as a significant loss to the entire nation, the Nigerian Armed Forces, and to all who knew and respected him for his unwavering dedication to the country.
He also described the late Lt. General Lagbaja as a paragon of honor, bravery, and patriotism while alive.
According to Ikoh, throughout his illustrious military career, he demonstrated exceptional leadership, valor, and a steadfast commitment to the security and unity of Nigeria.
The ex-minister partly stated: “His contributions to the Nigerian Army are immeasurable, and his legacy will forever be etched in the annals of our nation’s history.
“In these moments of grief, my thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, colleagues, and all members of the Nigerian Armed Forces.
“May they find solace in the cherished memories of his life and the indelible mark he left on the hearts of many.
“Lt. General Lagbaja’s dedication to duty and his selfless service have inspired countless individuals and have strengthened our resolve to continue striving for a safer and more prosperous Nigeria.
“As we mourn his passing, let us also celebrate his life and the remarkable achievements he made in service to our nation.
“On behalf of myself and the entire community of Abia State, I offer our deepest sympathies and unwavering support to his loved ones during this difficult time.
“We join the nation in honoring the life of a true hero, whose spirit will continue to guide and inspire us.
“May his soul rest in perfect peace, and may God grant his family the strength to bear this irreparable loss”.
