Nasarawa Assembly approves N156.6bn 2024 supplementary budget.

Nasarawa State House of Assembly passed the 2024 Supplementary/Amended Appropriation Bill into law, allocating N156,687,479,388.94 from the state’s Consolidated Revenue Fund for government services.

Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, the Speaker of the House announced the passage of the bill into law during the House proceedings today in Lafia.

Speaker Jatau said that the supplementary appropriation bill, if signed into law by the Governor would give the state government power to complete ongoing projects.

He observed that the executive has achieved a lot in terms of revenue generation in the year under review.

“The total size of the recurrent expenditure after adjustment stands at N150,310, 075,773.14, whereas, the total size of the capital expenditure will be N206, 256,774,325.22

“The total size of the budget for the year 2024 after adjustment is N356,566,850,098.36” he said.

The Speaker directed the Clerk of the House to produce a clean copy of the bill for Governor’s assent.

Earlier, Rt. Hon. Abel Yakubu Bala, the Deputy Majority Leader of the House, moved a motion for the bill to scale third reading which was seconded by the Minority Leader of the House, Hon. Luka Iliya Zhekaba.

The House unanimously passed the bill into law.

It would be recalled that in Dec.2023, the House approved N199.8 billion budget the for 2024 fiscal year.

With the supplementary appropriation bill now approved it takes the Nasarawa State Government 2024 budget to N356.5 billion.
