The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) is experiencing an escalating battle for dominance following Wednesday’s ruling by Presiding Judge, Justice Abdullahi Hassan Shams Shammah in Nasarawa State
A restraining Order was earlier issued by the High Court sitting in Doma local government, prohibiting Francis Orogu, ex-State PDP Chairman, and the State Working Committee from conducting party Congress.

During the Court hearing, Ishaka Mudi Dikko SAN, counsel for the plaintiffs, told the Court that Francis Orogu, the former People’s Democratic Party Chairman, disobeyed the Order by conducting ward and local government Congresses while it remained in effect, and asked the court to cite him for contempt.
Dikko SAN sought a court declaration rendering the congresses null and void, citing their execution in defiance of a court order and the defendants’ counsel’s failure to file a counter affidavit.
On behalf of J.J. Usman, SAN, counsel for the respondents, M.A. Jacob, Ulegede, and Isyaka Kadiri, advised the court that their counter affidavit had been filed in advance.
Counsel for the plaintiffs, Ishaka Mudi Dikko SAN, contended that the defendants’ interpretation of the law was incorrect and asked the court to dismiss their argument.
