….Vote of confidence passed on state’s only female lawmaker

Women groups from Akwanga Local Government Area in the Northern Senatorial Zone of Nasarawa State have launched a political movement aimed at securing the re-election of Hon. Hajarat Danyaro Ibrahim (APC Nasarawa Central), the State’s only female legislator, in 2027, in recognition of her exceptional performance.

The women groups, who acknowledged and valued Hon. Danyaro’s resilience and determination in fighting for women’s empowerment during the just concluded LG election in the State, which led to their remarkable success, advocated for increased female representation in Governor Sule’s next cabinet.

Women groups, under the leadership of Hon. Rabi Akwanga, the Deputy Speaker of Akwanga LG legislative arm and former Deputy Chairman of the area, paid a solidarity visit to Hon. Danyaro in Lafia, the state capital, on Friday.

She stated that the visit was to express appreciation for her remarkable efforts during the last LG election in the State, which resulted in the election of almost 13 women as councilors, a significant increase from the previous four, with many others securing various positions at the local councils, including clerks and secretaries, among others, and urged her to continue exceling.

The women commended the lawmaker for making a positive impact in the State Assembly at both the constituency level and the legislative chamber, despite being the sole female member, while praying for God’s continued guidance and support.

They rallied behind her re-election campaign in 2027 to ensure her ongoing commitment to public service and to push for increased representation of women in both elective and appointed roles.

Responding, Hon. Hajarat Danyaro Ibrahim, Chairman of the House Committee on Women Affairs, expressed gratitude to the women for their solidarity visit and reaffirmed her dedication to championing women’s emancipation and good governance.

She recognized the support she was getting from women throughout the State, regardless of her being from the Western Senatorial Zone, and appreciated her constituents for entrusting her with the mandate, supporting her, and understanding her, with a promise to justify their confidence in her.

Hon. Hajarat Danyaro Ibrahim called upon her visitors and the entire people of the state to continue to support the administration of Gov. Abdullahi Sule to enable him succeed.
