Manhaja reporter honours NSUK VC with leadership award

Awards are given to individuals who have made a positive impact on citizens’ lives in one way or another.

The Vice Chancellor of the Nasarawa State University Keffi, Prof. Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, is one who has done excellently in transforming the revered institution, prompting a reporter with the Blueprint newspaper Hausa version (Manhaja) to honour her with a merit leadership award due to her track records of achievements within a short period in office.

John Dogo Wada, correspondent for Nasarawa state at the well-known national print media outlet Blueprint Hausa version (Manhaja), presented the award to the Vice Chancellor, recognizing the awardee’s transformative agenda as courageous, which merited her the award.

The ceremony for the presentation of the award took place at the office of the Vice Chancellor, Senate Building of the institution in Keffi, on Tuesday.

According to John Wada, the award was bestowed in recognition of the VC’s sacrifice and selfless service to the people, particularly in the area of academic collaboration with local and foreign institutions to promote academic excellence.

“As a journalist based in Nasarawa state covering activities of all critical sectors including education, where Nasarawa state University is among the areas of my coverage, I have observed the tremendous achievements recorded within the short period of your leadership. I deemed it necessary to present the award to you in order to encourage you to do more.”

The media practitioner advised other leaders to adopt the leadership approach of Prof. Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, which will foster academic excellence and research.

Wada urged the VC to maintain regular engagement with the media regarding her activities, emphasizing their role in informing and educating the public about her academic accomplishments.

Following the receipt of the Award from the media officer, Vice Chancellor Prof. Sa’adatu Hassan Liman expressed her appreciation to the Blueprint Hausa state correspondent for recognizing her contributions to the institution’s development and growth, and reiterated that her leadership would maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards indiscipline, truancy, corruption, and unethical behavior between staff and students.

She vowed to utilize the recognition as a catalyst for growth, fostering additional development within the institution and humanity, and applauded a team of journalists for their tireless coverage of university events, urging them to maintain their momentum.

The university administrator pledged to continue collaborating with the media, who serve as the watchdog of society, to achieve the set goals necessary for development to thrive.

The official presentation of the award to the Vice Chancellor by John Dogo Wada was the pinnacle of the event.
