Kogi PDP Chieftain Muhammad Sani Gambo Condoles Boat Mishap Victims, Govt

Hon. Muhammad Sani Gambo, the first runner-up in the last Kogi State People’s Democratic Party Congress, who is awaiting his swearing-in as the State PDP Chairman, has expressed profound sadness over the recent boat mishap in the State and extended his heartfelt condolences to the families affected by the tragic incident on the River Niger.

He termed the unfortunate incident, involving a boat carrying roughly 200 market women, as regrettable, pointing out that it is one accident too many.

The accident that occurred while they were traveling from Kogi State to Niger State, he said, has left a sour taste for the water transportation system, pointing out that it has called for a need to return to the drawing board to put in place necessary safety measures to forestall future occurrence.

In a statement personally signed by Hon. Muhammad Sani Gambo, he extended his deepest condolences to the families of the victims of the tragic incident, urging them to find strength in the face of devastating loss.

While praying for the repose of the souls of those who died in the accidents, he also prayed to God to prevent similar accidents from occurring in the future on the Waterways

Hon. Muhammad demanded an investigation into the immediate and remote causes of the accident, pointing out that the tragedy raises concerns regarding the safety of waterway transportation in the region and emphasizing the pressing need for preventive measures in the future.

The PDP Chieftain offered sympathies to the victims’ families, called on the state government to provide support to the affected families and work with federal agencies to ensure adequate assistance for the injured and others affected by the tragedy.
