Oborevwori charges intending pilgrims on good conduct, spiritual growth
…As 250 pilgrims sponsored by Delta State Government begin their immigration and health screenings
Intending pilgrims numbering 250 to the Holy Land of Israel and Jordan have been advised to pray for peace, progress and more economic prosperity for Delta State and Nigeria.
Governor of Delta State, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, gave the charge on Monday, while declaring open the 2024 Delta Christian pilgrims pre departure screening exercise at the C.A.N Secretariat in Asaba, the state capital.
The governor who was represented by the Honourable Commissioner, Bureau for Special Duties, Etagherure Ejiro Terry, said the state had benefited from previous spiritual exercises, adding that prayers for the state and leaders in the Holy Land also attracted inestimable economic progress, prosperity for our people and sustained peaceful coexistence and unity.
He advised intending pilgrims to maintain high standard of decorum, love one and another throughout their spiritual exercise in the Holy Land, pointing out that his administration would continue to partner with all faith based organisations in the state as critical partners in progress.
Governor Oborevwori, urged all intending pilgrims to patiently go through medical, tests, immigration clearance and security screening before and during the pilgrimage to Israel and Jordan, as required by National Christian Pilgrimage Commission, NCPC, and at the various airports departure points, and port of entry in Israel and the Kingdom of Jordan.
“I urge all intending pilgrims to exhibit high decorum, be prayerful and be spiritually sensitive. As a state, we shall continue to place God above all.
“Pray for Delta State and our country, Nigeria. Pray for Mr President, his family and members of the federal executive council.
“I urge you to be a good spiritual ambassador of Delta State, and continue to pray for the peaceful coexistence, sustained unity, more progress and uncommon prosperity for our people,” Oborevwori added
In the same vein, the Executive Secretary, Delta State Christian Pilgrim Welfare Board, Very Rev Fr Christopher Ekabo, in an interactive session with newsmen, said governor Sheriff Oborevwori approved and released funds for the 2024 pilgrimage to the Holy Land of Israel and Jordan, covering 250 pilgrims.
He thank the state governor for his good governance strides since assumption of office, assuring that team Delta to the Holy Land would devote quality time to pray for the state, the governor and members of the state executive council, as well as for Mr President, his family and cabinet, and for the peace and prosperity of Nigeria.
“We have today commenced full preparations for the 2024 pilgrimage to the Holy Land of Israel and Jordan.
“The Chairman, my humble self and entire members of Delta State Pilgrim Welfare Board are working round the clock to ensure that we deliver on our assigned responsibilities as we commence pre-departure screening exercise at all levels.
“All intending pilgrims shall undergo screening; international passport verification and validation by officers of the Nigerian Immigration Service, medical tests and security checks to ensure that nobody with criminal records benefits from the 2024 spiritual exercise.
“Delta has no record of absconded pilgrims, and this trip shall be no exception. We shall go as one united Delta team, and return as a blessed and prosperous team, in Jesus Name,” Ekabo assured
One of the intending pilgrims and Director General, Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, told newsmen at the C.A.N Secretariat’s on Monday, that governor Oborevwori, holds the christian pilgrimage to the Holy Land in high esteem, anad would continue to give prime attention to all matters relating to spiritual upliftment of the state and people.
He said the Government House Chapel altar is on fire for God, and that the right hand of God is increasingly at work in the state, inspiring the governor and members of the state executive council to craft programmes and policies that continue to uplift the living standards of the people and breaking new grounds in mega infrastructural development across the three senatorial districts.
Oghenesivbe, assured that while in the Holy Land of Israel and Jordan, all pilgrims shall pray fervently for the state and governor Oborevwori, his family, the deputy governor, Sir Monday Onyeme and his family, as well as other stakeholders assisting the governor to Advance Delta beyond 2027.
“We thank our amiable workaholic governor and Boss, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, for his prompt approval of the 2024 Christian pilgrimage to the Holy Land of Israel and Jordan. We are indeed very grateful.”
