Gegu Beki community lauds Kogi Govt over provision of Gen Hospital, Security

IDRIS AHMED, Lokoja.

The annual Gegu Beki Day in Kogi local government area of Kogi state was celebrated on Friday witnessed by hundreds of people from all walks of life across the state and beyond.

The annual event which was hitherto marked by cultural dances and display of talents among the residents, a new dimension was however added to demonstrate their loyalty and commitment to government policies, especially as it impact on the area.

As parts of programme lined up for the occasion was a visit to Nigeria Military Base , Police force divisional area, Federal Road Safety Commission, Kogi state Vigilante service Nigeria Security and civil defense corps, GYB general hospital, and Primary healthcare centres.

Also the Gegu Development Association, organised sanitation of the town as parts of effort’s geared towards promoting community development as well as a road walk for fitness and wellness

Kogi state Commissioner of Solid Minerals and natural resources, Engr. Mohammed Abubakir Bashir Gegu, who is a prominent son of the area, explained that Gegu Beki Day is set aside to celebrate her achievements ,challenges and prospect.

Addressing the rank and file of Military, Vigilante group of Nigeria, Nigeria Police, Federal Road Safely, Engr.Abubakar Gegu, said the familiarisation and Yuletide Visits was to appreciate their enormous contributions in securing of lives and property of the citizens.

He expressed satisfaction at the level of loyalty to the Kogi State government under Yahaya Bello’s leadership and Ahmed Usman Ododo’s guidance, which have significantly contributed to the community’s development.

Engr. Gegu expressed gratitude to the government for instituting security formations in the area, earning it the accolade of being a shining example of peaceful, progressive, and united area.

According to him, the visit would enable the community to see for itself the challenges it faces and come up with solutions within its power, and also push the government for help when necessary.

At the Palace of Nyiwo Gegu Beki, His Royal Majesty Alhaji Mohammed Abbas Alhassan, a first-class chief, lauded the sons and daughters of Gegu Beki for their tireless efforts in promoting development in their ancestral land.

The monarch prayed to God for His continued blessings upon them and the entire land, urging them to foster harmonious relationships with all people to sustain the existing development of the Chiefdom.

Captain Moses Oji of the Nigerian Army, Suleiman Labaran, Operations Officer of the Vigilante Nigeria group, and Abdulahi Nuhu, Kogi sub-commander, all praised the leadership of Gegu Beki community for their moral and material support, which has made their operations easier.
