Media personality Idris expresses gratitude to Kogi NYCN Chairman Jeremiah Ojodale for championing his freedom
….Lauds DSS for their professionalism, neutrality
Yahaya Idris, a blogger and publisher of Global Times Nigeria, recently acknowledged the significant support from Comrade Benjamin Jeremiah Ojodale, Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) in Kogi State, which contributed to his release from the Directorate of State Security Service (DSS) in Benue State.
This recognition comes shortly after Idris regained his freedom, noting the importance of advocacy and community support in such situations.
Idris was arrested on January 13, 2025, in Lokoja and brought in for questioning at the DSS Kogi State command. He was then transferred to Makurdi, Benue State, the following Wednesday, to continue the investigation.
Following the unfortunate incident, Kogi State NYCN leader Jeremiah Ojodale extensively mobilized youths and media to advocate for the freedom of Nasarawa State-born blogger Yahaya Idris.
Comr. Jeremiah Ojodale has hosted a series of press conferences, requesting that the Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, grant the unconditional release of the publisher.
Idris also expressed his gratitude to his leaders and fellow Nigerians who contributed to his freedom, assuring them of his continued support and cooperation towards building a better Nigeria.
He praised the Directorate of State Security Service, DSS, for their professionalism, uprightness and neutrality, which he said allowed him to give his account of the events that unfolded.
