Prof Ogbo lauds Gov Ododo for student bursary awards, advocate for postgraduate scholarship

The Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Lokoja, Professor Salisu Ogbo Usman applauds Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for his notable investments in the education sector.
Prof. Usman, speaking at the launch of the Kogi State Bursary and Scholarship in Lokoja on Friday, advocated for the introduction of a postgraduate scholarship scheme, stressing its importance in boosting the state’s educational and economic opportunities.
Prof Usman cited Kano, Ebonyi, and Akwa Ibom as states that have achieved success in implementing postgraduate sponsorship programs.
He pointed out that such initiatives would encourage inclusivity, intellectual growth and equal opportunities for all students, while also reducing parochial and divisive sentiments
He also commended Governor Ododo for his sustained commitment to education, noting that he has been building upon the achievements of his predecessor, former Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello, CON.
He extended appreciation to Governor Ododo for settling WAEC fees for Kogi state students, viewing it as a significant intervention that alleviates financial hardships on parents and encourages universal access to secondary education.
He further commended Governor Ododo’s efforts in enhancing infrastructures and security frameworks at the state’s tertiary institutions, specifically the ongoing installation of CCTV cameras at Kogi State Polytechnic, Confluence University of Science and Technology, and Kogi State University, Kabba, and the historic fencing project at the Itakpe campus of Kogi State Polytechnic, which was inherited from Kwara State, describing it as a remarkable step in addressing the longstanding security concerns and strengthening its surveillance.
Prof. Usman praised the appointment of Mr. Joseph Afolabi Raji to the Kogi State Scholarship Board, emphasizing that the board is undergoing rebranding to enhance its services to Kogi State students.
