Nasarawa residents concerned over fuel price instability

By Roseline Okafor, Nasarawa

Nasarawa West Senatorial district residents have Raised Concerns Over Fluctuating Fuel Prices in the Country.

In an interview with some residents of the state, it was stated that the increasing fuel prices are attributed to the actions of marketers following the removal of fuel subsidy.

Fuel is more than just a source of energy; it is the cornerstone of modern economies, indispensable for both individuals and businesses.

The daily lives, productivity, and commercial activities of many rely heavily on fuel, rendering price fluctuations a significant concern for economic stability.

Nigerians are currently grappling with rising fuel prices, set by the government, which has sparked concern among residents of Nasarawa West senatorial district, who have spoken out about their frustrations with the situation.

Jibrin Salihu, a resident of Nasarawa Local Government Area, offered his insights on the economic consequences of rising energy costs, rebuking fuel marketers for intensifying the challenges faced by Nigerians by continually raising pump prices.

“In order to tackle this issue successfully, I propose setting up a task force committee to supervise the activities of fuel marketers.”

Likewise, Mr. Emmanuel Lohfa, a resident of Masaka in Karu Local Government Area, underscored the direct consequences of fluctuating fuel prices on both consumers and businesses.

Mr. Lohfa appealed to citizens to remain patient and pray for a positive change.

“Rising fuel prices escalate transportation expenditures, which subsequently elevates the prices of essential commodities in the market.”

The upward trend in fuel prices has resulted in a twofold increase in food costs over time, a rise in transportation expenses, and has imposed a greater burden on families already experiencing stagnant incomes.
