Osuku community Chief, Alhassan Danlami, accused of fuelling crisis
…..As youths, elders, women expresses confidence in Gov. Ododo and Barr. Tanko’s leadership
The residents of Osuku community in Koton-Karfe South East, Kogi local government area of Kogi State, are calling that the Kogi State Government promptly investigate the traditional ruler of the community and prominent opposition leader, HRH. Alhassan Danlami, whose leadership is characterized by controversy, a breach of trust and aiding insecurity in the area.
The community members stated that the Chief’s egregious behavior is irredeemable and that if immediate action is not taken to address his incivility, it may result in loss of life and property.
Danlami is alleged by the Osuku community to be operating a draconian traditional administration, compromising security and opposing the current leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and its members in the area.
Addressing reporters in Lokoja, the Kogi State capital on Wednesday, Comrade Yahaya Umar, Osuku Community Youth leader and leader of Black Lion group, distanced themselves from the reprehensible actions of Osuku community chief, HRH. Alhassan Danlami, which include instigating crisis, insecurity, attacking leaders, and supporters of APC, as well as causing disunity among other ruling houses in the area.
Yahaya Umar clarified that the Black Lion is a sociopolitical organization of young individuals who unite to provide support to the Kogi State Government, as well as the All Progressives Congress (APC), and use their platform to attract meaningful development to their community, a characterization that diverges from the controversial traditional ruler’s outburst, which mistakenly referred to them as thugs of the APC.
Umar observed that the chief always becomes the victim whenever his deceitful actions fail to yield the desired outcome, thereby seeking to garner sympathy from the public.
The youth leader, speaking on behalf of the Back Lion Group, expressed concern that a traditional ruler, who should be a custodian of the people, has instead turned against them by aligning with the opposition to cause mayhem and halt meaningful development in their community.
The Osuku community chief had repeatedly expressed solidarity with leaders of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, prior to joining the Social Democratic Party, SDP, where he championed an intense campaign with some of his supporters to thwart Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s chances of winning the 2023 election in his domain.
Umar expressed his gratitude to God that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo is currently the Governor of Kogi State, and Barr. Tanko is alive as their absence would have resulted in their expulsion from the community for supporting APC in Kogi State.
He called upon Kogi State Governor, Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo, whom they affectionately referred to as a father, to expedite the establishment of a committee to investigate the controversy surrounding the Osuku community chief and restrain his excesses to ensure sustainable peace, harmony, and facilitate meaningful development.
The youth leader also extended congratulations to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, his deputy, Joel Salifu Oyibo, and the new direction team on achieving a successful one-year anniversary, urging Kogites, particularly those from Kogi LG, to continue supporting the Governor in his efforts to provide leadership and security to the State.
He similarly expressed admiration for their leader, the Executive Chairman of Kogi State Civil Service Commission, Hon Barr. Muhammed Tanko Musa (Osuku), who has consistently demonstrated an unwavering commitment to the advancement of Osuku community, even in the face of opposition from the new king who did not want to see progress in the area.
According to the youth leader, Barr. Tanko’s unrelenting dedication to his community is unmatched, adding that he harnessed his office as Chief Administrator of Kogi LGC to upgrade the well-being of his host community with multiple dividends of democracy.
“It is appalling that the chief of our community, who does not want peace and progress, submitted a petition with a selfish intention to tarnish the image of Barr. Tanko, who has brought significant development to their community.”
“We, the people of the Osuku community, urge the Government and security agencies to promptly investigate the Chief and his concealed ulterior motive that threatens to destabilize the community.”
The group highlights Barr. Tanko’s achievements and developmental support to Osuku community, including facilitation of Third class and Second class leading to the upgrade of the royal stool.
Barr. Tanko also facilitated the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, VGN, with the intention of enhancing the security of the area.
The legal luminary, in his dedication to advancing development, facilitated the construction of vital infrastructure, including a Town Hall, Hospital, MTN Network, Electricity Transformer, Osuku community Mosque, Arabic school, and provided uniforms and educational materials to pupils and students in the area, thereby promoting educational and community development.
In a demonstration of unity, they adopted a resolution expressing confidence in the leadership of the Kogi State Civil Service Boss and the Kogi State Governor, whom they regarded as their mentors that have positively impacted their lives.
