The Governor of Delta State, His Excellency Dr. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, has sent us here today through the Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, under Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe’s leadership, with the message: ‘Drug kills, Say No to Drugs, and Yes to Life’, in pursuit of a Drug-Free Delta State.
The NDLEA Assistant State Commander, educated the students on how to identify certain drugs with live samples, emphasizing the destructive nature of the drugs, why they should avoid certain social parties.
“There was a birthday party very close to you were we found and rescued some young girls about your age who were victims of drugs mixed with the drinks and were about to be raped”.
“We are here to advise you never to keep bad company, stay away from Illicit Drugs and Drug Abuse so that you can achieve your individual colourful destiny.
“Your governor and our governor, Elder Sheriff Oborevwori loves you, and he sent us here to tell you that you should focus on your studies, be good students and to say Yes to Live, No Drugs.”
The students’ engagement was robust, with questions like “why are these drugs produced” and “why are they harmful to individuals.” The NDLEA representative provided answers and the students sang and danced to “Say No to Hard Drugs, Yes to Life.”
The Schools’ staff and principals welcomed this timely sensitization, expressing their gratitude to the State government, while also commending Governor Oborevwori for his love and concern for all Deltans.
As part of its ongoing initiative, the “Drug Free Delta” campaign team will visit schools in Kwale, Ozoro and Oleh on Thursday.
