Ododo is dedicated to offering media training to enhance public policy communication, says Spokesman, Isah

The Kogi State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to building the capacity of its media team, according to Ismaila Isah, Special Adviser on Media to the Governor, to ensure effective public policy communication.

Isah commended Governor Ododo’s stance on capacity building, pointing out that it has secured him acclaim for prioritizing the expansion of his team’s capabilities.

He emphasized the administration’s aspiration to promote trust and acceptance by channeling resources into capacity building programs.

Hon. Isah stated this during a specialized training session on innovation in public policy communication for members of the government house media team, which took place at the Government House Media Centre in Lokoja.

Isah pointed out that the training is part of efforts to enhance public policy communication and foster transparency and accountability in governance in commemoration of the first anniversary of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s assumption of office as the Governor of Kogi state.

He pointed out that the session, which united members of the Government House Media Team and the media team from the Office of the First Lady, would promote strategic communication skills among team members.

He expressed gratitude to Governor Ododo for prioritizing capacity building initiatives for the media team and other officials in the present administration to boost their capacity to meet key performance indicators set by the administration.

He pointed out that the training session has met one of the primary objectives of his office, which is to introduce team members to international best practices in communication deliverables for the government.

He underscored the administration of Governor Ododo’s commitment to building trust and acceptance through investment in capacity building for the government’s media team, leading to improved performance in public policy communication.

Speaking on the theme: “Innovation in Public Policy Communication: Leveraging the Six Levers of Influence for Effective Public Policy Messaging”, Prof. Adams Adeiza, Associate Professor at Sunway University in Malaysia, underscored the pivotal role of media professionals in moulding public perception and ensuring effective communication of government policies and programmes.

He praised the media team for their synergy, crediting it to the Ododo-led administration’s dedication to promoting collaboration and professionalism.

The facilitator stressed the role of emotional appeal in public messaging, observing that decisions are primarily emotion-driven rather than logically determined.

Prof. Adeiza had previously met with senior civil servants at the Office of the Head of Service, where discussions focused on strategies for revitalizing the state public service to enhance efficiency.
