Oromoni Leads Reform Efforts in Warri South-West, Emphasizing Efficiency, Accountability

The Chairman of Warri South West Local Government Area, Hon. Sylvester Oromoni, convened a meeting with council staff to discuss administrative and operational matters aimed at enhancing efficiency and accountability.

The Chairman underscored the importance of staff attendance, punctuality, and adherence to civil service rules, which are crucial in achieving his administration’s objectives. Furthermore, he indicated that there will be reassignment and potential redeployment of underutilized personnel with teaching experience to the education sector.

The Chairman reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to enhancing the welfare and working conditions of council staff, and will vigorously address the issue of minimum wage, salary unit functions, and improved transportation, announcing that adjustments have been made to ensure that the wooden boat operates twice on Mondays through Thursdays and once on Fridays to facilitate transportation for workers.

The Head of Personnel Management (HPM), who commended the Chairman’s effort to ease transportation costs, stressed the importance of staff regular attendance and punctuality to work.

The NULGE chairman raised concerns about workers’ unethical attitude of skipping work on Wednesdays for church, suggesting the use of the council hall for services on such days. He also appealed for timely processing of payment slips, to which the Chairman assured resolution.

Discussions also covered tracing absentee staff to ensure accountability. Hon. Oromoni reaffirmed his commitment to good governance and urged staff to remain dedicated to their duties.

In another development, the Executive Members of the Delta State Councillors Forum, led by Rt. Hon. Ekpemupolo Samuel I., paid a courtesy visit to Hon. Sylvester Oromoni, the Executive Chairman of Warri South West Local Government Area, at his office in Ogbe-Ijaw.

Hon. Oromoni in a warm welcome address, expressed his appreciation for the forum’s visit, acknowledging their efforts in supporting the programs and projects of the state government. He commended them for their dedication and encouraged them to continue their good work in bringing development to the people of Delta State.

The chairman of the forum, who hails from Gabramatu in Warri South West, noted that the visit was an opportunity to strengthen ties and foster unity among councillors across the state.
