Hon. David Zacharias, the member representing Idah Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for setting up the North Central Development Commission (NCDC).
Zacharias, a two-term federal legislator from Kogi State, lauded the establishment of the commission, stating that it is a long-overdue initiative aimed at promoting development in the North Central region, and President Tinubu has exhibited visionary leadership by making it a reality.
In a statement issued on Sunday, Zacharias observed that the establishment of the NCDC will yield significant transformation in the North Central geopolitical zone, tackling pivotal developmental challenges such as infrastructure deficits, economic empowerment, security, and social welfare.
“This is a welcome development and a step in the right direction. The North Central region has long deserved a dedicated commission to accelerate growth and development, just like other regions with similar commissions. By meeting this long-standing demand, President Tinubu has shown his commitment to inclusive governance.”

Hon. Zacharias, who chairs the House Committee on Safety Standards, urged the people of Idah Federal Constituency and the entire North Central region to remain hopeful, assuring them that President Tinubu’s administration is determined to deliver positive changes. He emphasized that the new commission will open doors to job creation, infrastructure development, and enhanced security in the region.
The lawmaker called on the federal government to prioritize the North Central zone in its developmental policies, describing the region as one of the most peaceful in the country. He emphasized that greater attention to the region would bring lasting benefits to the nation, given its strategic importance in Nigeria’s socio-economic framework.
“I urge President Tinubu to pay close attention to the North Central region, as this is a region with enormous potential and a history of peace and stability. Investing in the North Central will not only boost economic activities but also strengthen national unity.”
Global Times Nigeria reports that the North Central Development Commission (NCDC) was recently established to address challenges, promote economic growth, reconstruct, and rehabilitate infrastructure in the North Central region of Nigeria.
President Bola Tinubu signed the bill into law, a move that has been widely praised by residents and stakeholders alike.
