…As State Bureau, NDLEA complete first phase of campaign in Delta

Governor of Delta State, Dr (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori, will on Tuesday February 18, perform the grand finale of the first phase of “Drug Free Delta” campaign with the Theme: Yes To Life, No To Drug Abuse

A statement on Sunday by the Director General, Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe Esq, and made available to newsmen in Asaba, said the grand finale will take place at the Royal Palace Hall, Opposite Orodje of Okpe Palace in Orerokpe, Okpe Local Government Area of Delta State, beginning from 10am .

He disclosed that about 200 students from seven Secondary Schools have been selected to participate in the grand finale which promises to be a unique event, wherein the students would interface with NDLEA special Narcotic officers led by the State Commandant, Commander Abubakar Wada Esq and other major stakeholders.

Dr Oghenesivbe said the first phase of the campaign covered 28 Secondary Schools across the three senatorial districts, and that several WADA CLUBs (War Against Drug Abuse – WADA) were constituted to enable students spread the “Drug Free Delta” message within and outside their schools environment through Quiz competition, Essay writing and Drama to emphasize dangers of drug abuse and use of Illicit drugs.

Other dignitaries and senior government officials expected to grace the campaign grand finale on Tuesday at Orerokpe include; the Honourable Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Emomotimi Guwor, Hon James Augoye, Member representing Okpe State Constituency, Delta State House of Assembly, Chairman of Delta State Traditional Rulers Council and the Orodje of Okpe Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Orhue 1, Major-General Felix Mujakperuo (CFR, mni, Rtd), Chairman, Delta State Advisory and Peace Building Council, and former Federal Minister of Information, Prof Sam Oyovbaire, Secretary to Delta State Government, Dr Kingsley Emu, Honourable Commissioner for Health, Dr Joseph Onojaeme, Honourable Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Mrs Rose Ezewu.

Other dignitaries expected are; Chief Adviser to Delta State Governor, Chief Senator Ighoyota Amori, Chairman, Okpe Local Government Council, Chief Isaiah Esiovwa and other Council Chairmen, Hon Chief Felix Anirah, PDP Leader Sapele LGA, Chief Mrs Roseline Amioku, Chairman, Delta State Civil Service Commission, Hon Chief Solomon Ighrakpata, Chairman Delta State Internal Revenue Service, Chief John Nani, Chairman DESOPADEC, Deaconess Mrs Eunice Okiemute Anirah, Special Adviser on Women Development to H.E. Delta, and others too numerous to mention.

Dr Oghenesivbe humbly appealed to all invited guests and senior government officials to be seated on or before 9:45am.
