The Idah local government area in Kogi East was agog on Sunday, 16, 2025, as the community came together to acknowledge and celebrate the achievements of some outstanding personalities from Kogi State who have made remarkable contributions to the state’s and country’s progress.

This is in light of the award presented to Comrade Benjamin Jeremiah Ojodale, Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, Kogi State chapter, for championing the cause of development and humanitarian service to young people across the State and beyond.

Rev. Fr. Joshua Sani of Our Lady of Lordess Catholic Diocese Idah local government area announced an award to honour notable individuals and a fundraising campaign to complete the church building in Idah local government area.

Before conferring the award on Ojodale, the Church praised his outstanding achievements in humanity and community development, considering him deserving of the recognition.

In his acceptance speech, Comrade Benjamin Jeremiah Ojodale expressed gratitude to the Catholic Diocese of Idah for the honor bestowed upon him, noting that he was unaware his humanitarian endeavors and community service had been recognized by religious leaders.

The Kogi NYCN Chairman pointed out that he has been honored with multiple awards previously, but noted that this one, coming from a religious organization, is uniquely special.

According to him, he was committed to helping people, with his efforts benefiting not only the Igalas but the entire Kogi State and beyond.

He gave the Christian community an assurance of his support and pledged to support the building of the church.

Our correspondent reports that a number of NYCN Coordinators from the eastern district, namely Idah, Ibaji, Igala-Mela, and Ofu LGAs, have also aligned themselves with the State Chairman, making a joint donation to the church building project.

Earlier, Hon Destiny Keller, Senior Special Assistant on Youth Mobilisation to the Governor of Kogi State, Hon Timothy Ojoma, Kogi State Commissioner for Agriculture, and other attendees expressed gratitude to the Catholic Diocese community for deeming the awardees worthy and assured them of their continued support for God’s work.

Hon Keller and the Agriculture Commissioner also pledged their donations while calling on affluent individuals to support the ongoing church project.

A highlight of the event was the presentation of an award to the Chairman of the Kogi State National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, and other appointees.
