The Kogi State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) under the pragmatic leadership of Comarade Benjamin Jeremiah Ojodale, has expressed deep shock over a tragic accident on the Lokoja, Felele highway, which resulted in the deaths of several students from the Federal University Lokoja.

Reports indicate that at least six to seven students were killed when an articulated vehicle collided with a shuttle bus transporting them.

The incident has sparked widespread mourning within the University community and beyond, as students and officials reflect on the devastating loss of young lives.

The NYCN has called for urgent measures to improve road safety in the area to prevent such tragedies in the future.

In a condolence message addressed to the Management and students of Federal University Lokoja, the Chairman of NYCN Kogi State chapter, under Comrade Benjamin Jeremiah Ojodale’s leadership, expresses that the entire Kogi State youth are in mourning over the loss of their colleagues, who were killed while pursuing their academic aspirations.

He also offered condolences to their immediate family and advised them to take comfort in God, who destined and accomplished it.

Comrade Benjamin Jeremiah Ojodale seized the medium to make an appeal to both Federal and State Governments to join forces in finding a lasting solution to this recurring incident.

He recommended that heavy-duty trucks be restricted from using the same route as students, maintaining that this would lower the risk on the highway.

He stated that establishing an alternative route for heavy-duty vehicles and banning their daytime use on the same route would be preferable.

He prayed to God to show mercy to the departed souls and to grant their parents the fortitude to deal with their irrecoverable loss.
