Nasarawa Broadcasting Service mourns Abubakar Karai
….Vacuum created because of Kwarai passing would be difficult to filled — NBS Director

The remains of Isah Abubakar Karai, a staff member of the Nasarawa Broadcasting Service (NBS) at the Keffi station, were laid to rest at the Kofar Hausa burial ground in Keffi local government area of Nasarawa State.
Global Times Nigeria learnt that Karai passed away in the early hours of February 18, 2025, and was remembered as a dedicated journalist and veteran in the field.
His contributions to local media were acknowledged by colleagues and community members who mourned his loss
The burial ceremony took place following a prayer session at Makwala, which was led by Mallam Auwal, Chief Imam of Keffi Central Mosque.
Report says On Tuesday morning, the NBS family received the unfortunate news of Karai’s passing. He had suddenly collapsed and died while visiting his aunt at the Chief Imam’s residence in Makwala area in Keffi.
Mallam Auwal led the prayer for the deceased, emphasizing that death can occur at any moment and encouraging individuals to live a life worthy of emulation. At the Muslim cemetery in Kofar Hausa prison yard, sympathizers gathered to pay their last respects to the late radio icon, and the Chief Imam prayed for the repose of Karai’s soul
Karai’s friends remembered him calling earlier that morning, asking them to go about their daily routines, and later felt shocked and saddened upon learning of his sudden passing.
“This morning, he called to ask my location, and I informed him that I was at home. He subsequently asked me to meet him, and when I arrived, I was told that Karai was being hospitalized. I am extremely shocked.”
“Yesterday, we met at night to discuss our activities for today, and he edited our comedy video, sending it to us. We are saddened by his passing and cannot believe Karai is gone forever.”
Mr. Alomo Flashman, General Manager of NBS, spearheaded a delegation of directors and senior staff to condole with Karai’s parents and family at Angwan Karai in Keffi, counseling them to draw strength from God.
“Karai is a dedicated staff member who has been performing different journalistic activities. We are going to miss him. He has contributed to NBS’s success in Keffi and Lafia.”
Mr. Robo Oshagu, Director of NBS Keffi station, and Mr. John Jatau, Head of Administration, noted that Karai’s passing created a void that would be difficult to fill, given his remarkable dedication and commitment to duty.

Until his death, Karai worked as a staff member of the News and Current Affairs department at NBS Keffi station. He was celebrated for his popular Hausa programs, including “Daga Litatafan Hausa,” “Kunne Gari,” and “Goron Juma’a,” as well as producing Hausa comedy shows.
Karai is survived by his parents, wife, and two children.
