Nasarawa Assembly mourns Clerk’s demise
….Says Maikeffi Abashe passing is a colossal and monumental blow to legislative arm
The Nasarawa State House of Assembly is mourning the loss of its Clerk, Mr. Ego Maikeffi Abashe, who passed away early on Saturday due to a prolonged illness. Mr. Abashe was a significant figure in the assembly.
His role as Clerk was crucial to the administrative functions of the assembly, and his passing will likely be deeply felt by its members.
The Speaker of the House Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau through a statement by his Press Secretary Jibrin Gwamna expressed deep shock over the death of the Clerk, Mr Ego Maikeffi Abashe, describing it as a colossal and monumental blow to the legislative arm.
Speaker Jatau offered prayers to God, seeking forgiveness for his shortcomings and eternal peace, and also consolation for the family.
“This is one death too many to bear, may God bless his soul and comfort all of us” the Speaker said.
The Chairman Nasarawa State House of Assembly Service Commission, Alhaji Musa Isa Mustapha Agwai, in a statement by the commission’s Secretary, Hon Muhammed Ohinoyi Musa (General) described the death of the Clerk as a profound loss not only to the family and the legislative institution but also to the entire State considering his significant contributions to the State Government, praying God to bless his soul.
Lawmakers, management and staff of the House as well as the general public has continued to send in their condolences.
Mr Ego Maikeffi Abashe served as the Clerk of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly for the past 15years as he took over in January, 2010 and was the longest serving Clerk of the House since the creation of the State in 1996.

5. Late Ego Maikeffi Abashe, from January 2010 to 1st March 2025.
6. Mr Ibrahim Musa has been on Acting Capacity since Maikeffi falls ill since December 2023.
