Oghenesivbe becomes African Union Agenda 2063 Ambassador
The African Union Agenda 2063 Ambassadorial Assembly has appointed the Director General of Delta State Orientation and Communications Bureau, Dr (Barr) Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, as an Ambassador of the Assembly with all rights and privileges.
Secretary General of the Supreme Council of United World Congress of Diplomats, Ambassador Prof Tunji Asaolu, while presenting the Ambassadorial Certificate and Diplomatic Passport to Oghenesivbe, said AU’s Agenda 2063 is Africa’s blueprint and master plan for transforming Africa into the global powerhouse of the future.
By this appointment, Oghenesivbe joins other prominent Africans selected from both public and private sectors to serve in various groups for the actualization of the “Africa We Want to See.”
Ambassador Asaolu stated that the AU Agenda 2063 is the continent’s strategic framework that aims to deliver on its goal for inclusive and sustainable development, and is a concrete manifestation of the pan-African drive for unity, self-determination, freedom, progress and collective prosperity pursued under Pan-Africanism and African Renaissance.
He posited that the genesis of Agenda 2063 was the realisation by African leaders that there was a need to refocus and reprioritise Africa’s agenda from the struggle against apartheid and the attainment of political independence for the continent which had been the focus of The Organisation of African Unity (OAU), the precursor of the African Union.
Ambassador Asaolu said as an Ambassador of the African Union Agenda 2063 Ambassadorial Assembly, Dr Oghenesivbe would play major roles in the media and communication department of the Assembly, especially in the sphere of global advocacy to help Africa grow sustainably and compete globally.
“I congratulate you on your well deserved appointment as Ambassador for the AU’s Agenda 2063 Ambassadorial Assembly.
“Your wealth of experience in strategic communication and media management earned you this appointment. Work groups shall majorly be done virtually, so as to enable Ambassadors perform their primary assignments in the official work places,” Asaolu said.
He stated that Ambassador Oghenesivbe’s professional skills in communication, media and information strategy management spanning over two decades would help to drive strategic dissemination of information at the Assembly.
In his post inaugural remarks, Ambassador Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe thanked the Assembly for the appointment, and promised to discharge his assigned responsibilities without blemish.
He thanked the governor of Delta State, Dr (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori for giving him the platform to exhibit his professional skills, making it possible for the AU Ambassadorial Assembly to assess his performance resulting in his appointment and status.
Agenda 2063 is a blueprint for transforming Africa into a global powerhouse, a roadmap for sequencing plans at the national, regional, continental, and sectoral levels, a call to action for all Africans and people of African descent, a commitment to inclusive and sustainable development.
