Dr. Paul Femi Fashagba has been appointed as the new Provost of Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa, effective March 2025. He was previously the Director of Academic Planning at Federal Polytechnic Bida and has over 26 years of academic experience. Dr. Fashagba has pledged to prioritize the welfare of the college’s management and staff while enhancing academic standards, in alignment with the vision of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, who appointed him.

Dr. Paul Femi Fashagba, the newly appointed Provost of Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa, has arrived at the institution to assume his new role.
His arrival was marked by a warm welcome from a diverse group of supporters, including friends, well-wishers, aides of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, Local Government Chairmen, leadership of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), and students of the college.

Dr. Paul Femi Fashagba was officially received at the Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa, by the outgoing Provost, Dr. Mohammed Keebiru Ibrahim. In accordance with the institution’s tradition, Dr. Ibrahim welcomed Dr. Fashagba and his delegation to the Provost’s office, symbolizing a formal handover of leadership.

After a brief meeting in the Provost’s office, the outgoing Provost, Dr. Mohammed Keebiru Ibrahim, led Dr. Paul Femi Fashagba and his delegation to the council chamber. Senior lecturers were present to officially receive the new Provost and commence the formal handover ceremony. This was described by many as institution’s commitment to orderly leadership transitions and its dedication to fostering academic excellence.
Dr. Paul Femi Fashagba, the newly appointed Provost of Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa, expressed his gratitude to God for his leadership role during his official reception.
He assured the management team of his commitment to improving the living standards of staff and adding value to the institution. Dr. Fashagba emphasized his dedication to enhancing the college’s academic and administrative standards, aligning with its mission to produce exemplary educators for the state and nation.
He also revealed that he will mobilize his friends and fellow alumni to contribute to the development of the institution, while establishing a high-powered committee to identify the institution’s challenges and facilitate a prompt request for assistance from the Governor.

“As someone with a well-trained and disciplined background, he is well-positioned to make a positive impact on reshaping the institution better than he met it.”
He recognized that Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo appointed him to lead the institution and noted that with such backing he cannot afford to fail. He stated.
He repeatedly expressed gratitude to Kogi State Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo for the trust and confidence placed in him, adding that he will conduct himself with integrity, contributing his quota to adding value to the State as a whole.
Fashagba also cautioned staff against backbiting, emphasizing that his administration will not condone any behavior that fosters disunity, instead promoting unity as a team to achieve success.
Dr. Mohammed Keebiru Ibrahim, the outgoing Provost of Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa, expressed gratitude to the school management and students for their cooperation during his tenure. He urged them to extend similar support to his successor, Dr. Paul Femi Fashagba, to ensure the continued growth and success of the institution.
He shared his experience of facing challenges upon assumption of office, including the removal of vital items like fans, KVA generator, and other items from the Provost quarters by his predecessor, but with God’s guidance and support from his team, he has been able to restore all the removed items, which he considered a personal sacrifice for the benefit of the new leadership.
Dr. Mohammed Keebiru Ibrahim, the outgoing Provost of Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa, revealed that he had personally ordered the stoppage of all transactions from the day Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo appointed his successor. He described this decision as a personal sacrifice aimed at ensuring a smooth transition and supporting the success of the incoming Provost, Dr. Paul Femi Fashagba.
He also mentioned that the handover document encompasses all the prerequisites for Dr. Fashagba’s success and promised to support the new Provost, particularly in times of need.
However, both new and former Provost visited the palace of Ajeh Ankpa for royal blessing, seeking his support to enable him succeed in his domain, while students in joyous mode displayed their various activities in solidarity with the new Provost, Dr. Femi Paul Fashagba

Among those present were Alhaji Suleiman Ibrahim, the Director General Protocol at the Government House; the Chairman of the Kogi State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) led by Comrade Benjamin Jeremiah Ojodale; the Chairman of Ijumu Local Government Area, Mr. DSTV; and Hon. Oladele John Nihi, Special Adviser to the Governor on Students Affairs. Senior Special Assistants (SSAs) and other dignitaries also accompanied them to show solidarity with the new Provost. This broad representation highlights the administration’s commitment to fostering collaboration and institutional success.

Global Times Nigeria reports that Kogi State College of Education, Ankpa, established in 1981, is a public teacher training institution offering various National Certificate in Education (NCE) courses through schools such as Arts and Social Sciences, Languages, Sciences, Vocational and Technical Education, and more.
The college functions under the guidance of a provost and has an Academic Board responsible for policy formulation.
