Simon Yakubu Returns as SSANU NSUK Leader, Others Retain Positions
…..NLC tasks them on purposeful leadership

The Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) Nasarawa state chapter has advised union leaders to uphold a positive image of their respective organizations.
Comrade Mohammed Na’ibi, state secretary of NLC, made this statement at the third quadrennial congress of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), Nasarawa State University branch.
The event, held at the 1,000-seater auditorium in Keffi, Wednesday., was attended by the representatives of Union leaders from other territory institutions.
Speaking during the quadrennial congress of the senior staff association of Nigerian Universities, Nsuk branch, the secretary of the Nasarawa state NLC, Comrade Mohammed Na’ibi, said union activities aimed to promote purposeful leadership, welfare, and a positive image of the organization, and commended SSANU’s dedication to union activities and encouraged them to sustain their efforts.
“The SSANU Nsuk branch, based on the records available, they are very committed members, I must commend their leadership for coordinating the affairs of the union in good direction”.
The chairman of ASUU NSUK chapter, Prof. Samuel Alu, and Comrade Abdullahi Omale Ari, chairman of the National Association of Academic Technologists NSUK branch, appreciated the state government’s salary increments but noted that more needs to be done.
The deputy vice-chancellor, administration, Prof. Theophilus Daniel Lagi, and the bursar, Mallam Abubakar Kana, assured the union that the management is working towards enhancing the welfare of both academic and non-academic staff.
During the congress, members unanimously re-elected the current executives, led by Comrade Simon Yakubu as chairman of SSANU NSUK chapter.
The national vice president, North Central, Comrade Abubakar Aliyu, while inaugurating the officials, charged the new executives to sustain their hard work and prioritize members’ welfare.
Other speakers praised the officials’ dedication and hard work, urging them to continue in the same direction.
Responding on behalf of members, Comrade Simon Yakubu, chairman of SSANU NSUK chapter, thanked members for their support and solicited continued backing for the next four years.
