Mr. Mek Agbawu Mek, the Executive Chairman of Kokona Local Government Area, has praised Dangote Foundation for providing food items for vulnerable members of the society.
However, the Aliko Dangote Foundation has been widely recognized for its efforts in providing food assistance through the 2025 National Food Intervention Project.
This initiative aims to distribute one million 10kg bags of rice across all 774 Local Government Areas in Nigeria, benefiting vulnerable citizens.
Such initiatives are often praised by local leaders for their impact on addressing hunger and supporting communities.
This commendation came during the distribution of 10kg bags of rice to vulnerable and poor individuals in Kokona Local Government Area, held at the council secretariat.
Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State had earlier flagged off the distribution of palliatives courtesy of the Dangote Foundation, aiming to cushion the effects of current hardships in the country.
The Governor directed local government chairmen to distribute these palliatives to deserving beneficiaries at the grassroots level.
Responding to this directive, the Chairman of Kokona Local government area, Mek Agbawu Mek, thanked the Dangote Foundation and Governor Abdullahi Sule for their efforts in ensuring the welfare of vulnerable and poor people.
He warned beneficiaries against selling the food items, instead urging them to use them as intended.
“We are giving this Rice strictly to vulnerable people, I don’t want to see one bag in my house, or deputy, Councillors of any of my local government officials, it is not meant for us but for the people who cannot afford it”.
Other dignitaries, including Abaga Toni Laurence Sylvester Ayi and Councillor representing Bassa electoral ward, Jatau Smart Akenyi, commended the donor for his prompt intervention and promised to deliver the message of support to their constituents.
“I urge those saddled with the responsibility of sharing the food items, pls don’t divert it but give to the right beneficiaries.”
“I will make sure, I deliver the message of Dangote to the people of my electoral wards, that is the vulnerable members of the society.we appreciate him.”
Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the gesture and called on other wealthy individuals to emulate Dangote’s example for the benefit of all citizens.
