2027: Ex-Nasarawa Speaker Balarabe advises against distracting elected officials, urging patience to allow them to deliver
Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, the immediate past Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, emphasized the importance of granting more time to those holding elective positions. He argued that additional time would enable politicians to deliver on their campaign promises and make necessary adjustments to fulfill their responsibilities effectively.
Balarabe Abdullahi, who represented the Umaisha/Ugya constituency under the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform, has been a prominent figure in Nasarawa politics, serving multiple terms as Speaker and was able to resolved navigating leadership challenges during his tenure.
The former Nasarawa Speaker
suggests that those in office have spent two out of their four-year terms. This implies that there is still ample time for those seeking reelection to fulfill their obligations and garner support from their constituents before the 2027 elections.
Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, the Walin Opanda Kingdom, has been involved in political leadership roles, including serving as the Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly.
Balarabe Abdullahi, who is now serving as the Chairman of the Governing Council of Federal Polytechnic Damaturu, Yobe State, spoke with Journalists during a Sallah celebration at his country home in Umaisha, Toto Local Government Area, highlighted the importance of giving elected officials sufficient time to deliver on their promises and prepare for reelection ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Since assuming his role as Council Chairman in July 2024, Balarabe has focused on repositioning the institution in line with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda in education.
His efforts include enhancing educational standards and addressing challenges like electricity and security at the polytechnic.
According to him, the display of campaign posters and other criticism of politicians in elective positions at this time is not justified, as they still have two years to implement meaningful changes and achieve significant results within the scope of their mandates.
“For us that are outside the circle at the moment, we are seating on the fence watching and accessing our representatives, when the time come, we will do the needful and tell the public what we are contesting for but for now is not yet time”
“For me our elected representatives still have more time to deliver, to do more, to make amends where necessary especially those who want to return to their seats and have not done enough for their people” Balarabe said.
“It is not time to criticize them but to encourage them, their journey is just half way along the line, they can do more and I believe showing interest on their seats and the early display of campaign posters is a distraction” He added.

He called for more support and prayers for leaders at all levels to enable them succeed.
He commended Governor Abdullahi Sule for his visionary leadership in the State and praised his efforts to promote peace in Toto LG, encouraging the people to come together and unite despite their differences for the sake of peace and development in the area.
He lamented that the area has seen both the good, the bad and the ugly situations hence the need for citizens to support government efforts in rebuilding Toto LG.
