Ohimegye Opanda, Balarabe Advocate for Peace, Unity at Eid-el Fitr
The Chairman of Toto LG Traditional Council of Chiefs, HRH. Alhaji Usman Abdullahi, the Ohimegye Opanda Umaisha, and the immediate past Speaker of Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, celebrated Eid-el-Fitr with their people in Umaisha, Toto Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.
Their presence emphasized unity and community engagement during the festive occasion.
The Two Unit prayer at Umaisha Central Eid Ground was led by Justice Mohammed Yahaya Usman, the Chief Imam of the area and Khadi of the Shariah Court of Appeal in Lafia.
The prayers emphasized peace, unity, and progress for Nigeria, Nasarawa State, and the Toto local area.
The event reflects the community’s desire for harmony and development, especially in the face of recent challenges in the area.
The prayers are a common practice during Eid celebrations across Nigeria, where Muslims gather to mark the end of Ramadan and pray for national and local well-being
In accordance with tradition, the Royal Father was accompanied from the Eid ground to the palace where they all congregated to pay homage.
In his speech, the First Class traditional ruler, HRH. Alhaji Usman Abdullahi, acknowledged the efforts of Governor Abdullahi Sule and stakeholders in bringing development and peace to the area, urging for the maintenance of peace.
Ohimegye Opanda, the Chairman of Toto LG Traditional Council of Chiefs, emphasized the importance of peace and unity among his people, highlighting their positive impact on society. He also urged them to be security conscious and to engage in farming, fishing, and trading, which are traditional activities in the area.
This call aims to enhance food security and economic stability even as he encouraged his people to utilize small plots of land for farming to reduce hunger and promote local development
“Let us massively go back to farming, let us all farm even if you have small potion of land behind your house farm on it, that is the only way we can reduce hunger in our land”
“And also is the fact that leaders should know that the masses are suffering and they should do something to address their plight”
“I also told my people not to allow politics divide them, they should work together for development of the area” He said.
In an interview, Alhaji Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, the immediate past Speaker of Nasarawa State House of Assembly, praised Governor Abdullahi Sule for bringing development to both the local area and the state as a whole.
Balarabe Abdullahi has consistently acknowledged Sule’s efforts in improving the state’s infrastructure and governance, emphasizing the importance of continuity and support for the governor’s initiatives.
He called on his people to pray and support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to enable him succrrd saying the President has zeal to transform the country.
“The President has good intention for the country, let support him to succeed”
“Let us also continue to pray for Gov. Abdullahi Sule to succeed, he has passion for our people, he has passion for the state”
Alh Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi acknowledged the developmental strides of Governor Abdullahi Sule in the area calling on his people to support government at all levels to succeed for more democratic dividends.
While wishing all citizens successful sallah celebration he called on all to continue to pray fervently for the nation and the society to overcome emerging challenges.
“The security situation in the country is gradually improving, we should continue to pray, support and encourage our leaders not condemning them”
He called on the people of Toto LG to unit and sustain the existing peace in the area for development to thrive.
“We in Toto LG have seen it all, we will not go back to old days of crisis, peace is the best instrument of development that we must sustain” He said.
He also called on elected representatives to braze up and deliver on their campaign promises saying their four years journey is half way along the line now and they can still make amends where necessary just as he advised people to stop distracting those on power instead they should be allow to focus.
