Mega Empowerment: Ethiope East PDP splashes N22M on 220 beneficiaries
In continuation of empowerment of constituents across the entire eleven wards in Ethiope East Local Government Area, elected representatives and political appointees of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, under the leadership of the Deputy Speaker, Rt Hon Arthur Akpowowo, on Monday splashed N22 million on constituents, party members and supporters to complement governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s job and wealth creation programme under the MORE Agenda.
Speaking at the event, Rt Hon Akpowowo said apart from the good governance strides of governor Oborevwori in socioeconomic and infrastructure development, he had also empowered over 250,000 youths and women entrepreneurs across the three senatorial districts, and that elected representatives and political appointees under the PDP in Ethiope East LGA decided to key into the empowerment programme of the governor by contributing N22 million cash which was shared to 220 beneficiaries.
He disclosed that series of other empowerments have been worked out, and that he would in due time empower constituents across the eleven wards, saying that his election in 2023 had brought remarkable progress to Ethiope East State Constituency, assuring that come 2027, PDP and governor Oborevwori shall clean up the polls overwhelmingly due to the monumental achievements of the governor since he took over the mantle of leadership on May 29, 2023.
Chairman, Ethiope East Local Government Council, Chief Augustine Ogedegbe, said the empowerment was meant to appreciate constituents and party faithfuls for their loyalty, noting that governor Sheriff Oborevwori is committed to the well-being and prosperity of every Deltan, which is why elected representatives and political appointees came together to support the governor’s multifaceted empowerment programmes.
Ogedegbe urged well to do members of the party to use a fraction of their God given resources to alleviate poverty and assist struggling youths and women entrepreneurs to boost their businessees, adding that more empowerment shall be worked out to further boost job and wealth creation in line with the MORE Agenda of governor Oborevwori.
In the same vein, Chief James Omeru, announced the sum of N5.5million for 33 women across 11 wards, while Chief (Barr) George Orogun, also disclosed that he’s planning a special empowerment, and that details shall be announce through the party leadership upon conclusion of arrangements.
Chief Omeru, emphasized the need for all party faithfuls and supporters to remain focused, support and pray for the governor because of his genuine efforts and strong determination to advance Delta State beyond 2027, adding that the numerous mega projects across the three senatorial districts clearly revealed that governor Oborevwori is working round the clock to deliver dividends of democracy to all Deltans irrespective of political affiliation in fulfilment of his electioneering campaign promises.
Orogun advised the beneficiaries of the N22million of N100,000 per beneficiary, to invest their money wisely, adding that majority of successful businesses started small, while commending Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for the uncommon socioeconomic and infrastructure transformation currently taking place in Delta State, in less that two years in office.
State Director of Protocol, Chief Sunday Onoriode, assured party faithfuls and supporters that governor Oborevwori was and still on top of the political game in all ramifications, saying that the few members of the party in the LGA who defected to the opposition party are already regretting their actions, and that majority of them shall return to PDP before 2027 general elections.
Onoriode, noted that the governor is ahead in infrastructure and socioeconomic development, pointing out that another landslide victory at the polls is guaranteed in 2027 based on the good governance strides of governor Oborevwori.
He thanked all elected representatives and political appointees who contributed towards the empowerment programme, saying that governor Oborevwori extends his warm greetings to all party faithfuls, supports and beneficiaries.
Honourable Commissioner for Higher Education, Prof Nyerhovwo Tonukari commended the visionary leadership and great achievements of governor Oborevwori, and urged all party faithfuls and supporters to extend hands of fellowship to the few people who defected, so as to give them the courage to right their wrongs by returning to the party.
The Commissioner disclosed that Delta State has recorded significant progress under governor Sheriff Oborevwori, noting that come 2027, the governor shall be reelected in a landslide victory.
South-South Woman Leader of PDP, Chief Mrs Tessy Torru, advised beneficiaries to boost their businesses with the N100,000 given to each of them, adding that prudent management of resources and dedication to duty is a requirement for building a viable business.
She urged the women, youth and party faithfuls to remain steadfast and mobilize within their localities for the party and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, noting that a handful of opposition members in Ethiope East LGA is nothing to worry about.
Speaking during a radio program after the empowerment on Monday, Publicity Secretary of Ethiope Federal Constituency PDP Forum, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, said the 220 beneficiaries got N100,000 each, and that the next batch of beneficiaries in subsequent empowerment programmes shall not include those who earlier benefited, so as to spread wealth and job creation in the LGA.
He stated that PDP has grown bigger and stronger in Delta State under the visionary leadership of the state party leader and governor, Dr (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori.
Dr Oghenesivbe said that the opposition party, the All Progressives Congress, APC Delta does not have the capacity to withstand the political supremacy of PDP in 2027, assuring that a coalition of opposition parties in the State may soon adopt Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as their sole governorship candidate, so as to sustain the speed of meaningful development and good governance beyond 2027.
