Group advocates unity for political liberation of North Central
Movement for Political and Economic Liberation of the North Central Nigeria (MPLNCN), has urged stakeholders in the sub region to unite for freedom from the current economic and political emasculation by other geo political zones.
The group appreciated the efforts of pre and post independence leaders of the sub region like Chief JS Tarka, Solomon Lar, traditional rulers, eminent politicians and the resilient people for the agitation as well as political struggle in the making of Nigeria.
However it lamented that despite the support the sub region has given to other regions, especially the north, political leadership position of the country remains lopsided.
A statement signed by the zonal coordinator of the MPLNCN, Wahab Idris, said the the sub region has been denied even political parties leadership in the country, citing APC and PDP as culprits.
Idris alleged conspiracy against the North Central to unjustly deny it the opportunity to lead critical leadership positions, ” Of recent the ruling APC removed Senator Abdullahi Adamu led National Working Committee and instead and in his stead Abdullahi Ganduje former Kano Governor was appointment.
” The same scenario happened in the PDP when Iorchia Ayu was suspended by his Ward in Benue State, the leading opposition party wasted no time in relacing bim with Iliya Damagun from Baruch State, deliberately denying the North Central.
” On economic front, despite availability of immeasurable quantum of solid minerals and arable land for mass food production in the region, no serious attention has been paid to the important sectors, instead agricultural products from the area were taken to other parts of the country for consumption without adequate compensation “.
The group also lamented that the Ajaokuta Steel company has been neglected by the past administrations, despite it’s significa for the national potential economy, because it is not a northern or southern concern.
It regrets that the political agitators of the sub region are usually divided due to religion and ethnicity during election activities as the north and South scrambled for their votes with empty promises.
The Coordinator from Nasarawa State said it is unfortunate that the Middle Belt forum founded by the great Joseph Tarka has been converted to a platform for seeking political relevance using religions.
” Is the Middle Belt a religious or political entity, without physical countries agitating for the people of the North Central?. The North Central comprises of Kwara, Plateau, Benue, Niger, Kogi and Nasarawa States and the FCT”, why other people from states calling themselves middle belt forum. This has led to confusion on several occasions “, the group asked.
The MPLNCN therefore urges indigenous people of the North Central sub region to unite for major share in the political office sharing and dividends of democracy.
