Ajaokuta Steel workers jubilate over appointment of Abdulsalam as MD/CEO of coy
IDRIS AHMED, Lokoja
The Ajaokuta Steel Company workers have hailed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over the appointment of Professor Nasir Naeem Abdulsalam as the new Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, (MD/CEO) of the Ajaokutal Steel company.
In a congratulatory message, jointly signed by the leadership of the various branches of the affiliated Unions of the Steel company, said the appointment demonstrates President Tinubu’s commitment and readiness to revitalize the ailing Steel industry.
The unions also described the appointment as a testament to the impressive resumption of competence and experience of the new MD/CEO.
The congratulatory message was signed by Comrade Ibrahim Audu Abdulraman, Chairman Iron and Steel Senior Staff Association of Nigeria, (ISSSAN), Comrade Saliu Idowu Adinoyi, Chairman Nigeria Union of Mines Workers (NUMW) and Comrade Usman Bashiru, Steel and Engineering Workers Union of Nigeria,(SEWUN) .
The statement reads in part, “We, the leadership of the unions on behalf of the entire workforce of Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited extend our heartfelt congratulations on your appointment as the Managing Director and CEO of Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited.
“We also express our gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for apoiinting a son of Kogi State, as the Managing Director of Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited, showcases President Tinubu’s commitment to promoting regional representation and his readiness for revitalising the steel industry.”
“Your appointment came at a time when Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited is facing existential challenges of monumental proportion which we believe can be surmounted with the hands of all critical stakeholders on the same desk

They however expressed hope that the appointment will bring renewed focus and energy to Ajaokuta Steel Company Limited and ultimately contribute to the nation’s economic prosperity.
