The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) Yagba East Chapter is set to honor RT. Hon. Asiwaju Leke Abejide, who represents Yagba Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives (NASS), and Hon. (Dr) Dare Joshua a.k.a Venza, the Executive Chairman of Yagba East Local Government Council.

In a statement issued and made available to Global Times Nigeria late Friday said the recognition is in sincere appreciation of their exceptional dedication and invaluable contributions towards youth development and community service in the Yagba East area of Kogi State.

The NYCN is the umbrella body for Nigerian youth organizations, promoting youth empowerment and development nationwide through its various state and local chapters, including Yagba East

The group noted that Rt. Hon. Asiwaju Leke Abejide began paying West Africa Examination Council (WAEC) fees for public secondary school candidates in Yagba Federal Constituency even before his first election to the House of Representatives and has sustained this gesture for six consecutive years.

Elder Leke expanded the initiative to cover private school students and extended it to the Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency as well.

This comprehensive program has benefited thousands of students, easing the financial burden on families and helping to reduce school dropouts, while promoting academic excellence across Okunland.

Rt. Hon. Asiwaju Leke Abejide established a 300-seat capacity CBT JAMB Centre in Yagba Federal Constituency, enabling JAMB candidates to sit for their exams locally without traveling far outside the area. This has greatly improved access to examination facilities for students in the constituency.

He also has thousands of tertiary institution students on his tuition fees payment roll, supporting their education financially.

In addition, Abejide has empowered many youths with working tools, seed grants, agricultural inputs, and capacity-building programs aimed at improving the livelihoods of youth and vulnerable groups in his constituency. These initiatives include vocational training in partnership with the National Directorate of Employment (NDE), distribution of farm inputs like fertilizers and seedlings, and facilitating access to agricultural loans from the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Overall, his efforts have significantly contributed to education, youth empowerment, and agricultural development in Yagba Federal Constituency.

On Hon. Dare Joshua Venza, Executive Chairman of Yagba East LGC, has built youth capacity in an unprecedented way, investing significant personal resources to support government activities and community development, setting a high standard for future leaders.

As a grassroots mobilizer and highly reputed manager, he has effectively utilized scarce resources to achieve more than expected in strengthening Yagba East.

He has empowered over 100 young people by bringing them into his administration, fostering robust youth participation and a strong sense of belonging among constituents. Even before assuming office, he supported NYCN CBT JAMB coaching exercises and financed the Council’s sporting activities, demonstrating his long-standing commitment to youth development.

Currently, he has hundreds of students and youths on his payroll, promoting responsible youthfulness and aiming to leave a legacy that encourages more young people to assume executive roles.

His tenure is marked by significant achievements including infrastructure development, security enhancement, scholarship awards, and empowerment programs for widows and vulnerable groups, all contributing to a more progressive and inclusive Yagba East

The event is scheduled to take place at Isanlu, the Headquarters of Yagba East LGA of Kogi State, on Saturday, 19th April, 2025.

According to the statement, the duo has made significant progress in Educational Development, Youth Empowerment, and the Upliftment of Humanity amongst other areas.

Their unwavering dedication continues to inspire and have a positive impact on lives.
