The Executive Governor of Nasarawa State, His Excellency Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, has commended the Vice Chancellor of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, for her visionary and transformative leadership, as she marked her first year in office.

He made the assertion during the 4th stakeholders meeting held at the university’s main campus, in Keffi, was attended by top government functionaries, critical stakeholders, university staff, students, and members of the public discussed ways to bring development to the university.

Governor Abdullahi A. Sule, in his remarks, pledged sustained government support for the institution, while also recognizing the contributions of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration for its developmental efforts in the state. “I pledge my continual support to this institution to aid development,” he stated.

He further acknowledged Senator Abdullahi Adamu CON, former Governor of Nasarawa State and founder of the university, for his consistent contributions to the institution’s growth.

“We appreciate Senator Abdullahi Adamu for his consistent efforts in ensuring the growth of the university,” he said”

Highlighting a new infrastructure initiative, Governor Sule announced the construction of 1,100-bed hostel facilities under a Public-Private Partnership arrangement.

“1,100 beds will be constructed by PPP who will be coming into the institution this week for signing of this great contract,” he disclosed”.

The governor also appealed to the university’s management council to reconsider the disciplinary actions taken against some students, suggesting a more lenient approach.

“I appeal to the management council to review the punishment of the students’ suspension as a result of indiscipline and unethical conduct, to be lessened to enable them return back to school to continue with their education,” he said.

Prof. Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, assumed office as a Vice Chancellor on April 22, April, 2024, recounted her achievements within one year to include infrastructure and human development.

The Governor then appealed to the management to review the punishment of students who were suspended recently to enable them resume their studies.

In her address, the vice Chancellor , Professor Sa’adatu Liman expressed gratitude to the Governor for his unwavering support and acknowledged the university’s commitment to its founding mission.

“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the visitor to the University, His Excellency Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule whose commitment has been instrumental in the progress of the institution”.

” Nasarawa State University has since inception remained steadfast in its mission to be a citadel of knowledge and character.”

She emphasized that her leadership is driven by service, inclusivity, innovation, and progress, stating that her tenure is guided by a five (5) Strategic Action Plan developed at the start of her administration which focuses on all-inclusive leadership, strengthening the foundation laid by the previous administration, promoting research and innovation.

“My leadership is anchored in service, inclusivity, innovation and progress,” she said. “I will ensure that this institution continues to move forward in both growth and development with the support of specific bodies of the institution. Our aim is not only to equip students with theoretical and practical knowledge but also instill in them the virtues of honesty, empathy, respect, and responsibility.”

She also extended her appreciation to members of the university community and all stakeholders for their continued support and encouragement in moving the institution forward.

Stakeholder representatives present at the event expressed gratitude to the governor for his enduring commitment to the university, and hailed Professor Liman as a woman of strength, knowledge, and resilience. They pledged their ongoing support towards the continuous development of the institution.

The ceremony reached its climax with the unveiling of the university’s Strategic Plan Document and Vision Statement by the governor and other stakeholders.

The event also featured the presentation of awards and recognitions to select dignitaries in appreciation of their contributions to the university’s progress.
