The National Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee, Mogaji Ibrahim Olaniyan, has urged Nigerians to support the Nigeria Police Force in enhancing national security.
He made the appeal during the inauguration of the committee’s Nasarawa State officials at Golden Dabis Hotel in Keffi.
The Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Nasarawa State Command, celebrated its 41st anniversary alongside the inauguration of executives at the state, area command, and divisional levels.
The PCRC was formed to bridge the socio-psychological gap between the police and the public, solicit public information to control crime, and foster collaboration.
PCRC National Chairman, Mogaji Ibrahim Olaniyan, emphasized the police system’s role in crime prevention, detection, and law preservation, and urged the new officials to partner with relevant agencies to achieve success.
Nasarawa State PCRC Chairman, Mandy David Abuluya, pledged to leverage his 30 years of experience to create synergy with community leaders and stakeholders to reduce crime rates in the state.
“Insecurity is in rural communities the most, for that we will focus our duties to those areas that are prone to security. Security challenge is less in Urban centers. We will achieve this through the support of our stakeholders”.
Ibrahim Babayo, Vice Chairman of PCRC and former Chairman of Friends of Police, welcomed the merger, expressing confidence that it would yield positive results.
“We collapsed friends of police to PCRC because they operate the same objectives, we want to ensure safety of our people particularly in schools across the rural areas. We need support”.
Associate Professor Hauwa’u Mainoma, Deputy National Chairman (North), commended Nasarawa State for joining PCRC and expressed optimism about improved security.
The ceremony included the administration of the oath of office to newly appointed PCRC executives, marking a new chapter in strategic leadership and collective responsibility for advancing peace and security.
