2015 APC governorship candidate, Emerhor commends Gov Oborevwori over defection
…Says move automatically solved protracted leadership tussle within the party in Delta
In a historic move championed by governor Sheriff Oborevwori and stakeholders on Wednesday, Delta State officially became an All Progressives Congress (APC) State, occasioned by the massive defection of the Governor, the leadership and the entire structure of the Delta State Chapter of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
In a modest and swift reaction to the development, Olorogun Otega Emerhor, the 2015 APC governorship candidate, and a founding member of the party in Delta State, described the move as a “momentous occasion” that would give Delta State a stronger voice in national politics.
According to Emerhor, Governor Oborevwori’s decision to join the APC would unarguably enable the state to benefit from the “Renewed Hope Agenda” of President Bola Tinubu, as well as provide a platform for the governor to champion the state’s interests at the national level.
According to Olorogun Emerhor, with the defection, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori becomes the overall leader of APC Delta which would impact positively on the state’s politics, fasttrack meaningful development and Advance Delta beyond 2027.
He assured that with the governor as the new undisputed leader of the party in the state, it would automatically solve the leadership tussle that had bedeviled the Delta APC chapter, and in the same token pave the way for a united party that can deliver on its promises.
An excited Olorogun Emerhor congratulated Governor Oborevwori and the entire PDP members who defected to the APC, describing the move as a “game-changing” decision that would benefit the state and its people.
The President of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, was also appreciated by Emerhor, for accepting the move wholeheartedly, which was seen by all well-meaning Deltans as a demonstration of his love for the good people of Delta, and his commitment to building a stronger APC family in the state.
“Delta becoming an APC state and member of the mainstream of National politics, at these times, is a momentous event. Now, Delta is directly connected to the APC government at the center and has a seat at the high table where decisions affecting Delta are to be made by our APC government.
“Delta now has a governor to champion her cause at the Progressive Governors Forum. A governor that is no longer in opposition but working hand in glove with Mr President and can fight and protect the interest of all Deltans.
“And then, there are the direct benefits to the existing Delta APC itself arising from this master move. My dear Governor, with your one stone, you have solved the leadership tussle that had bedeviled the Delta APC chapter.
“And with the same stone, you now can lead an integrated and united APC that can deliver our President, yourself, and other candidates in 2027. As the Founding Leader of the party, let me assure you that this your deft move is well appreciated by the Leadership and teeming members of APC in Delta State. I, therefore, congratulate and celebrate you.
“May I seize this opportunity to also extend my hands of felicitation to my brother and former governor, His Excellency Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa who is a key architect of this game changing move. 10 years ago, we were combatants as APC and PDP governorship candidates in 2015. Today, by providence, we are now on the same winning team. I welcome you, your Excellency.

Reacting to Olorogun Emerhor’s goodwill message to governor Oborevwori, Director General of Delta State Bureau for Communications and Orientation, Dr. Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, who previously served as Director of Media and Political Communications to Olorogun Emerhor in 2015 governorship elections commended Emerhor, and other leaders of APC Delta for their statesmanship in agreeing to work with Governor Oborevwori as the new leader of the party.
According to Oghenesivbe, Olorogun Emerhor is a pragmatic leader who is always ready to make sacrifices for the good of all, adding that “I am thrilled to be in the same party again with my former boss.
“This development is a testament to the party’s commitment to unity and progress, and Olorogun Emerhor as a founding member and former governorship candidate of the party is a man of impeccable character, dependable, reliable and a fantastic team player.
Dr Oghenesivbe who was a guest of Champion 90.7FM Radio Lagos on Friday, further disclosed that governor Oborevwori ‘s timely decision to embrace the APC with the entire PDP structure in the state was for the overall development of Delta, as well as the socioeconomic well-being of the people.
He assured that as a big, strong and united family, the APC Delta under the leadership of governor Oborevwori is poised to enhance infrastructure and socioeconomic development throughout the three senatorial districts, adding that it’s a new dawn for Delta and Deltans across board.
