KOBA AT 76: A Legacy of Excellence and Development as Gov. Sule commissions project

The Keffi Old Boys Association (KOBA), established 76 years ago as the alumni body of Government College, Keffi in Nasarawa State, has a strong legacy of excellence and development. KOBA has been actively involved in significant contributions to their alma mater, including raising millions naira for renovating college infrastructure and improving academic activities.

The association has unified members globally, set up a National Secretariat with modern facilities, installed solar power, and plans to launch an e-library and renovate facilities such as toilets, sporting areas, and laboratories.
KOBA also holds prestigious events like the Annual General Meeting (AGM), which features the presentation of the Cheetah Awards to distinguished alumni and notable Nigerians for societal contributions, attracting prominent attendees including state governors and federal ministers. The association continues to play a vital role in educational development and community engagement, maintaining its commitment to excellence and progress over the decades
At its 2025 annual general meeting, members commended the outgoing leadership for their impactful contributions to Government College Keffi.
The meeting, attended by esteemed members, including Governor Abdullahi Sule’s representative, Commissioner for Education Dr. John Mamman, featured discussions on development initiatives and the election of new leadership.
Ambassador Umaru Suleiman Azores, Chairman of the occasion, praised KOBA members for their commitment to developing the college.
Alh. Mohamed Lawan was elected President General, with Dr. Mathew Ashikeni and Barrister David Nanyak as First and Second Vice Presidents, which Architect Shittu Umar will serve as General secretary respectively.

The new leadership was tasked with building on the association’s legacy and driving further development initiatives.
The ceremony included the commissioning of 12 solar street lights, a KOBA secretariat, and a new Sharon bus, showcasing the association’s dedication to Government College Keffi’s growth.
The Principal, Mallam Baba Saidu, appreciated KOBA’s consistent support and requested assistance in building the school fence to prevent vandalism.
The award night was held shortly after the AGM where some distinguished Nigerians were awarded for their contributions to the development of the society.
