…..Petition Against the Unconstitutional Appointment of State Executives
I write to formally submit this petition to express my deep concern and unequivocal opposition to the recent decision made by the President General to appoint members to the State Executive Committee (excos) unconstitutionally. This action follows the initiation of an electoral process that included the setting up of a committee, the sale of nomination forms which has made aspirants to invest so much time and resources into campaign activities.
According to Section 13(IX) of our constitution, membership in the state excos must be determined through democratic elections, adhering to the zoning arrangement. The President General’s actions violate this provision, undermining the foundational principles of our organization and eroding trust within our ranks.
It is worth noting that many aspirants have expended significant resources and effort in preparation for elections based on the understanding that a democratic process has started. Our aspirations and hard work deserve recognition and a fair chance at election.
I call upon the Board of Trustees to mandate the President General to retract the unconstitutional appointments and honor the democratic electoral process as stipulated in our constitution.
2. I demand the immediate reinstatement of electoral committee to continue a free and fair electoral process for the state excos, providing all interested candidates an equal opportunity to compete.
3. I request clear communication of the timeline and structure of the elections to ensure transparency and engagement with the membership.
Maintaining the integrity of our democratic processes is crucial for the future of our organization. We urge the relevant authorities to reconsider this decision and align with the constitutional provisions guiding our operations.
