Federal Medical Centre Keffi, Nasarawa State Chief Medical Director Dr. Baba Yahaya Adamu is addressing viral false allegations
The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Keffi, Dr. Baba Yahaya Adamu, has officially responded to and dispelled a series of false allegations circulating on new media platforms concerning the hospital’s operations and service delivery.
In a formal statement, Dr. Adamu clarified that the claims are unfounded and do not reflect the true state of affairs at FMC Keffi.
He emphasized the hospital’s commitment to providing high-quality healthcare services and maintaining transparency in its operations.
The CMD reassured the public that the hospital continues to uphold professional standards and deliver effective medical care to patients.
Dr. Adamu urged the public to rely on verified information and avoid spreading misinformation that could undermine the reputation and trust in FMC Keffi.
Yahaya Baba Adamu, was responding to questions from a team of journalist at his office recently, and clarified that the rumors alleging patients were asked to provide diesel or petrol for surgical procedures were completely unfounded and misleading.
According to Dr. Adamu, the blackout experienced in parts of Keffi in recent days, due to a rain-induced power outage, forced the hospital to rely on alternative power sources such as diesel and petrol generators.
He explained that during one such moment, power was disrupted mid-surgery, and a patient’s relative voluntarily offered to procure fuel to ensure the operation continued smoothly.
“That singular act of goodwill was unfortunately misinterpreted and amplified as though the hospital demanded petrol or diesel from patients. This is absolutely false,” the CMD emphasized.
Dr. Adamu also dismissed rumors suggesting that patients were required to bring their own water for treatment. He described the claim as a complete mix-up, stating unequivocally that.
“Since my assumption into office over four years ago, FMC Keffi has maintained uninterrupted water supply, and we continue to do so today.”
Further highlighting the hospital’s technological strides, the CMD noted that FMC Keffi currently operates an online electronic medical records system, which enables patients to access medical consultations remotely.
“With just a password, patients can log into our e-clinic platform, pay their consultation fees, and receive prescriptions that can be conveniently filled at nearby pharmacies,” he said. “This initiative is especially beneficial for patients with minor ailments who reside far from the hospital.”
Dr. Adamu also took the opportunity to address rumors surrounding the hospital’s mortuary, asserting that the facility remains fully operational. While acknowledging that some body coolers had recently required maintenance, he confirmed they have since been repaired and all services are functioning optimally.

Speaking further, the CMD urged the public and media outlets to verify information thoroughly before disseminating it, warning against the damage caused by misinformation and rumors.
“FMC Keffi remains committed to delivering uninterrupted, quality healthcare services with transparency and professionalism,” he affirmed.
It will be recalled that there were a series of negative publications about the poor operation of FMC Keffi, particularly on social media, accusing the management of the tertiary hospital of adopting a nonchalant attitude towards the plights of patients.
