Children’s Day: Toto LG Chairman advocates for eradication of child labour, provision of quality education to build an egalitarian society

Pharm. Ahmed Baba Yahaya, Executive Chairman, Toto LGA, emphasized the need for quality education for children to promote a society that is just and equitable for all.

The Toto LGC Boss urged for unwavering support for children’s education as the most lasting legacy and disapproved of all forms of child labour and abuse in society.
He expressed this sentiment during the 2025 International Children’s Day celebration held at Toto Central Primary School.
Pharm. Yahaya congratulated the pupils, describing children as the hope of society and a valuable gift from God who deserve love, care, and attention necessary to prepare them for future responsibilities and leadership roles.

While reiterating his administration’s commitment to reforming the education sector, Pharmacist Ahmed Baba assured that measures would continue to be implemented to ensure access to basic education.
On his part, Toto LGA Education Secretary Shuabu Soccer, explained that the celebration was designed to make the children feel special.
He noted that the event provided an opportunity to discuss important issues regarding their general well-being and encourage the children to always do right things.
It was reported that the celebration was an initiative and support of the present executive chairman as such program was not held during previous administration’s.

Among the gift items distributed to the children were cash tokens to 1st, 2nd and 3rd as well as to the winners of cultural dance and match past.

The event had in attendance the Council Secretary. Hon. Yahaya Baba muhammad Alhaji Keke, Toto LGA APC party chairman Shuaibu katuka, Legislative Speaker Hon. Abdulhameed Ayizimazi, Elected Councilors, Danlami Dantsoho Garkuwan, Directors, head of units, the representative of HRH. Onah of Toto among others.

The event was attended by 1000 pupils from LEA Primary Schools across the wards of the council, alongside their teachers, staff, demonstrating the administration’s dedication to fostering a supportive and enriching environment for the young ones.
