CCAPAD empowers Nasarawa Vulnerable indigenes with monetary grants

The Centre for Community Actions for Peace and Development (CCAPAD) is a Non-Governmental, Non-profit-making Organization based in Jos plateau state, to assist the vulnerable groups in the society.

Empowering the Vulnerable Through Faith and Skills, CCAPAD Launches EU-Funded Peace and Development Grants in Nasarawa and Gombe.

In a bold step toward promoting peace, self-reliance, and community development, the Center for Community Actions for Peace and Development (CCAPAD), under its Faith for Peace (F4P) Project, has begun distributing technical and financial support to community-based organizations (CBOs) and civil society organizations (CSOs) in Nasarawa and Gombe States.

The initiative, supported through third-party funding (A3.5), is part of a larger effort to engage multiple actors in fostering peace through faith-based approaches, with special focus on empowering vulnerable groups.

CCAPAD, a non-governmental organization operating in Nasarawa State, is known for its work in promoting peaceful coexistence, human rights, justice, good governance, and sustainable development.

With the support of the European Union, the Faiths for Peace Project aims to create a ripple effect of peace and progress through faith-based engagement and skills empowerment especially among Nigeria’s most vulnerable populations.

Speaking during the launch, Ahmed Salihu, Executive Director of CCAPAD, highlighted the significance of the project and its objectives.

“It’s a programme of Faith for Peace, funded by the European Union. The program is a presentation of grants to groups, associations, and communities to enable them help their lives and the community as a whole,” he explained.

According to Salihu, the initiative seeks to strengthen grassroots development by providing recipients with the resources and skills needed to improve their livelihoods and share knowledge within their communities.

“The resources we’ve given to them are to enable them learn various skills, after which they can extend this same knowledge to others,” he said. “Thereby making the economy better for the citizens and not solely depending on the government.”

He also emphasized CCAPAD’s commitment to transparency and accountability, assuring that the organization will actively monitor the use of the grants to ensure they are used effectively and ethically.

“We will monitor the grants we’ve awarded to make sure that there’s strict compliance. There shouldn’t be any form of mismanagement, to ensure that the goals and aims are met,” he stated.

Giving an Overview of the program, Yusuf Ayuba Abdullahi, program Manager, said they have executed project of different kinds geared towards impacting the lives of people through their offices in Adamawa, Jos and Nasarawa state

Sani Ibn Salihu Vice Chairman of the project, said there is no basis to discriminate one another on a religious basis, calling for tolerance among the two major religions for sustainable peace and unity.

Highlight of the event was the symbolic presentation of dummy checks ranging from 1 million to 2 million respectively.
