Nasarawa South Senator, Ogoshi Onawo, trains constituents on skill acquisition and empowers women and youths across 53 electoral wards

Senator Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo, representing Nasarawa South Senatorial District, has organized a groundbreaking training, skill acquisition, and empowerment program for hundreds of youths and women from the district’s 53 electoral wards including Awe, Doma, Keana, Obi, and Lafia Local Government Areas. This initiative was part of efforts to commemorate his 2nd anniversary in office and aims to equip participants with valuable skills and financial support to improve their livelihoods

Legislative Aide to Senator Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo, May 31st, 2025., the training, an innovative initiative in Nasarawa State, concentrated on photography, cinematography, and film production, providing participants with fundamental skills for the 21st century.
Seasoned film producers, directors, and scriptwriters, including Mr. Waziri Zaiyanu, Mr. Ishaq Sidi Ishaq, and Magaji Ibrahim Mijinyawa from the Nigerian Film Corporation, conducted the training, sharing their expertise on the potential of filmmaking in Nasarawa State, rich in heritage and culture.
The event’s crowning moment was the distribution of brand-new digital cameras to participants, thereby empowering them to produce and edit films.
Furthermore, Senator Onawo, a member of of the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP), provided monetary gifts to support nascent ventures and urged recipients to harness their newfound skills for community benefit. This initiative aligns with Senator Onawo’s pledge to human capital development, which has previously encompassed empowerments in farming, laptop provision, tailoring, and solar installations, among others. These sustainable programs are designed to have a lasting impact and benefit the constituency.
