Court Affirms Enemona Anyebe as Kogi PDP Chairman
By Yahaya Idris, Lokoja
The Kogi State High Court sitting in Lokoja has delivered a landmark judgment in favor of Hon. Enemona Anyebe, the State Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kogi State Chapter, providing clarity and finality to the leadership question that followed the state congress of August 31, 2024.
The suit, filed by Captain Joe Agada (Rtd.) and others, which sought to contest the legitimacy of the congress and the victory of Hon. Anyebe, was struck out for want of jurisdiction, effectively upholding the outcome of the congress and affirming Hon. Anyebe’s leadership as valid and lawful.
Reacting to the judgment, Hon. Enemona Anyebe welcomed the court’s decision, describing it as a victory for democracy, the rule of law, and the unity of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kogi State.
In a spirit of reconciliation, Hon. Anyebe extended an olive branch to Captain Joe Agada and his supporters, urging them to unite for the greater good of the party. He stated, “There is no victor, no vanquished. The time for division is over. My doors remain open to all party faithful, including Capt. Joe Agada and his group. Let us come together, in unity, to build a stronger PDP that can deliver hope and progress to the good people of Kogi State.”
Following the judgment, the PDP urges all members, stakeholders, and the general public to respect the court’s decision and collaborate with the leadership to enhance, restore, and reposition the party for future electoral successes.
“This ruling has solidified Hon. Anyebe’s position as the legitimate Chairman of the PDP in Kogi State. The party is now set to regroup, reenergize, and refocus its strategies to achieve its core objective, reclaiming power and delivering good governance to the people of Kogi State,” the party stated.
Going forward, the PDP in Kogi State will prioritize grassroots mobilization, deepen its engagement with voters, and implement a robust political strategy aimed at restoring the party’s dominance across all levels.
The PDP urges its loyal members and supporters statewide to unite, foster peace, and collaborate toward a stronger, more united front as the party embarks on a new journey under the leadership of Hon. Enemona Anyebe.
The statement, signed and released to the press by the Publicity Secretary, PDP Kogi State, Alhaji Umoru Tijani Aruwa, encouraged party loyalists to remain hopeful as the party undergoes repositioning to democratically restore power to the people.
