….Caution against treachery

As the 2027 General Elections approach, the people of Nasarawa West Senatorial Zone in Nasarawa State have proactively initiated efforts to sustain the power rotation arrangement within the state. The leaders said the move is aimed at promoting peace, unity, equity, and overall progress in Nasarawa State.

To ensure the successful implementation of the power rotation policy ahead of the 2027 General Elections, the party leader in Nasarawa West Senatorial Zone, former APC National Chairman Senator Abdullahi Adamu, has taken a proactive step by organizing a stakeholders meeting.
Senator Adamu, the first civilian Governor of Nasarawa State, invited key stakeholders of the ruling APC from the western zone to a meeting in Keffi, the headquarters of the Senatorial District, which was also attended by the incumbent Governor, Engr. Abdullahi A Sule, from the Northern zone.
During the recent meeting, Senator Abdullahi Adamu and the immediate past Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, took a nostalgic look back at the political evolution of Nasarawa State.
A key focus of their discussion was the zoning arrangements implemented in the state’s political landscape. Both leaders emphasized how these arrangements have fostered inclusivity, balanced representation, and contributed to political stability.
The revelations indicated that the western zone, which occupied the first slot, spent 8 years in power under the leadership of Gov. Abdullahi Adamu, while the southern zone, which occupied the second slot, held power for 12 years, with the late Gov. Aliyu Akwe Doma serving for 4 years and Gov. Umar Tanko Al-makura serving for 8 years, and the northern zone, which secured the third slot, is currently governed by Governor Engr. Abdullahi Sule, who will have completed 8 years in power by 2027.
This they said automatically power is to be shifted to the Western Zone whom they said is ready for the task and have qualified and capable people to rule the State.
Adamu, Balarabe, and other speakers at the meeting promptly informed the gathering of the task ahead, emphasizing the need for unity and understanding to prevail over personal interests and warning against betrayal.
Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, in attendance at the meeting, spoke at length about the need for peace and unity within the party ahead of the 2027 elections, and he made it clear that he will publicly support his chosen successor when the time comes.

They noted that zoning has been crucial in maintaining unity and promoting development in Nasarawa State by ensuring an equitable distribution of political power among the state’s diverse communities.
Following the development, Dr. Musa Muhammed Maikaya, a governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress, APC, appreciated the efforts of the former Governor, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, in convening the meeting where the zone strongly demanded governorship in 2027.
Maikaya also recognized the contributions of the immediate past Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, and other stakeholders who worked together to ensure the Western zone receives its fair share in the State.
He stated that such demand will promote equitable political power distribution across the three geopolitical districts in the State.
Our correspondent reports that the
Sunday meeting was reportedly well-attended by politicians from the zone, who demonstrated their unity of purpose in achieving the meeting’s sole agenda: power shift to the western zone.
