Ex-Abia State Assembly aspirant, Chidiebere Okoh, and APC executive members defect to ADC in Abia

By Chijindu Emeruwa

The irreconcilable difference between supporters of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu and the representative of Abia North Senatorial district of Abia State at the National Assembly, Senator Uzor Orji Kalu has caused political tsunami in Bende local government area chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as members joined African Democratic Congress(ADC).

Our correspondent gathered that the APC defectors were led into the ADC by Hon Chief Chidiebere Okoh who was the flagbearer of the Action Democratic Party(ADP) in 2023 State House of Assembly election.

The decampees are APC Ward secretary, Ezeogo Maxwell Ndukwe, the financial secretary, Mba Onyekwere, the assistant treasurer, Mr Jimmy and the non-indigene APC coordinator, Mr Paul.

Others included a chieftain and leader in APC, Chief Chukwuemeka Ogbonnaya (Cashflow), a strong force in women fold of Abia APC, Mrs Ijeoma Okeji, and other teeming APC faithfuls in Bende LGA.

Our correspondent further gathered that the defected APC stakeholders regretted that the irreconcilable feud between the Kalu’s had created divisions within the progressive party in Bende local government council area and Abia North senatorial zone as a whole.

The former APC members also posited that the division negated democratic principle which has caused huge cracks in Bende chapter of the progressive party.

“The failure of the National leadership of the party to reconcile the warring factions also propelled their defection to ADC,”the Abia decampees adduced.
