Nsuk’s Theatre Arts Department Promotes Cultural Exchange at Festival of Peace 2025

It is a celebration of culture, peace, and unity at Nasarawa State University Keffi, as the Department of Theatre Arts and Cultural Studies organizes the Festival of Peace to promote harmonious coexistence among diverse ethnic nationalities in Nasarawa State and beyond.

The event is colorful with various entertaining groups from the Department of Theatre Arts of Nsuk, College of Education Akwanga, and Federal University of Lafia, all demonstrating their cultural prowess.

The Commissioner for Information, Culture, and Tourism, Dr. Ibrahim Tanko, represented by the Executive Vice Chairman of NBS, Mallam Awwalu Salihu, describes culture as the way of life that identifies one’s origin and destination.

He commends the Department of Theatre Arts and Cultural Studies for organizing an event geared towards promoting peace and unity among people.

He notes that the ministry will partner with the department to sustain cultural activities across Nasarawa State, urging the university management to redouble its efforts in this direction.

The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, represented by DVC Research and Linkages, K’tso Nghargbu, says the management will always support activities that promote unity in the institution, stating that the Department of Theatre Arts is making the university proud through its cultural activities.

Prof. Emmanuel Dandaura, Prof. Victor Duga of Federal University of Lafia, and Dr. Phillip Umaru, the HOD Theatre Arts, note that the event aims to bring together students from various institutions in the state to showcase their cultural heritage and promote peace and unity among different ethnic groups.

The entertainers include Prof. Dandaura Dynasty Band, Hajiya Lantana Heritage Band, Dr. Phillip Umaru Band, Prof. Victor Duga Band, and Prof. Dandaura Legacy Kids, among others, featuring a display of cultural dishes prepared by students.
