In furtherance of his kind gesture in supporting the less privileged in society, the Chief Executive Officer of the Maikaya Development Foundation, Dr. Musa Muhammad Maikaya, has again shown love to physically challenged persons through a humanitarian gesture by distributing food items to them to cushion the effects of hardship.

Dr. Maikaya, who is contesting for the 2027 governorship in Nasarawa State under the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC), served as chairman of the occasion during a program organized by the National Association of Special Education Students, NSUK chapter, held at S.B. Mohammed Auditorium, School of Postgraduate Studies, on Friday, was accompanied by former Commissioner of Information, Culture, and Tourism, Comrade Dogo Shammah, and the Chief Operating Officer of the Maikaya Development Foundation, Comrade Shuaibu Sani, among other dignitaries.
Maikaya, who spoke on the theme of the program, “Breaking Barriers and Promoting People with Special Needs Inclusion in Higher Institutions,” said his organization is committed to promoting quality education, youth empowerment, and inclusive value creation across institutions of higher learning in Nasarawa State.
“The theme speaks directly to the heart of our mission at MDF. We believe in education that leaves no one behind – not the underserved, not the overlooked, and certainly not people with special needs, whose resilience, creativity, and capacity often go unrecognized simply because the systems around them were not designed with them in mind,” he emphasized.
The APC Guber hopeful stated that over the years, his foundation has been supporting thousands of students through scholarships, school renovations, digital learning interventions, and now the system has been extended to include students with special needs in education programs.
“The truth is, barriers – both seen and unseen – still prevent many of our brothers and sisters with special needs from accessing quality education. These barriers are structural, attitudinal, and systemic,” he noted.
“Imagine a brilliant student who cannot enter a lecture hall because there’s no ramp. Or a visually impaired learner who cannot access study materials in Braille or audio. Or the student with a hearing challenge who sits through classes with no interpreter.”
Dr. Maikaya called on stakeholders, government, tertiary institutions, private sector, NGOs, and well-meaning individuals to work together to make inclusive education a living reality in Nasarawa State and beyond.
On his part, Comrade Shuaibu Sani, Special Assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule on Student Matters and Chief Operating Officer of the Maikaya Development Foundation, said the gesture by Maikaya was in line with the policy direction of Governor Abdullahi Sule, emphasizing that the government would also support such initiatives for overall development.

Prof. Babudoh, who presented a paper on “Breaking Barriers and Promoting Disability Inclusion in Higher Institutions,” and Dr. Akawu Monday, a lecturer with the Psychology Department, said physically challenged individuals are recognized globally, hence the need for all to consider them as members of society.
The event featured the official presentation of food items by the CEO of Maikaya Development Foundation, Dr. Muhammad Musa Maikaya, just as award of humanitarian service was conferred to Maikaya.
