Engineer Muhammed Abubakar Bashir Gegu, the Commissioner for Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, has praised the Ekuzi Progressive Association (EPA) for its leadership in promoting development, unity, and peace among the riverine communities in Kogi Local Government Area. He made these remarks during the launching of the Ekuzi Unity House permanent site project held in Agbudu community on Saturday.

Engineer Bashir Gegu announced donations of 15 million naira, five million naira from Senator Sunday Steve Karimi representing Kogi West District and two million naira from Hon. Danladi Suleiman Aguye representing Lokoja/Kogi federal constituency.

He said the 22 million naira donations toward the development of riverine communities, specifically supporting the Ekuzi Progressive Association’s Unity House permanent site project.

The donation breakdown is as follows:

1 million naira on behalf of Ohimegye Igu Koton-karfe, His Royal Majesty, Alhaji (Dr.) Saidu Akawu Salihu

1 million naira for his political associate

2 million naira for his wife, who hails from area

1 million naira for himself

10 million naira for Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo respectively

Engineer Bashir expressed his commitment to aiding the development of the riverine communities, motivated by his personal connections—his beautiful wife from the area and friends who supported the APC during elections.

Expressing his admiration for the peace and progress achieved in the area, he encouraged the community to continue their efforts toward further development.

Engineer Bashir Gegu is known for his strong advocacy for youth empowerment and community development, particularly in riverine and marginalized communities.

He has been committed to aiding development through various projects such as building hospitals, classrooms, providing job opportunities, empowering men and women, and ensuring the cessation of illegal exploitation of natural resources in Kogi State.

His empathetic and inclusive leadership has earned him several prestigious chieftaincy titles and awards.

He is also recognized for supporting the APC during elections and expressing his intention to do everything humanly possible to support the development of riverine communities where his wife hails from

He emphasized that communities in Kogi LG willing to work with King Salihu Akawu Salihu, the Ohimegye Igu Koton-karfe, will continue to receive his attention. He commended the Ohimegye’s efforts to unite Kogi LG.

The Ekuzi Progressive Association conferred the chieftaincy title Madaki Kaura Ekuzi on Engineer Muhammed Abubakar Bashir Gegu in recognition of his generosity.

Barr. Muhammed Tanko Musa Osuku, the Executive Chairman, Kogi State Civil Service Commission congratulated Commissioner Gegu for on his new chieftaincy title, thoughtfulness and encouraged the people of Kogi LG to support his leadership, citing its benefits to the area.

The event was attended by senior government officials, traditional rulers, and APC leadership.
